He must of got it in his head the team needed a kick in the ass take no prisoners type of guy, not sure he made the right call.

The team seems to have hit a wall, they needed a shakeup of somekind, but this Torts idea is only going to end one way and everyone knows it.

I say enjoy the show

strikes me that the canucks are trying to do a bit more drastic version of what the sharks did last year, "retool" without blowing it all up necessarily. difference is that the sharks traded away 2 crappy pending UFAs that they somehow convinced other teams were worth a bunch of 2nds and high 3rds and the canucks situation is vastly more complicated. in any case, i can't really make fun of them since it seems they're about to do what the flames should have done like 4 years ago

actually you know what maybe i will anyway

Eklund says it's been common knowledge for a long time now that Kesler wants out. So common that Eklund forgot to write about it.
- hankthetank

Agreed. I have said it many times, Eklund has no clue what's going in Vancouver.

As a lifelong Canucks fan, I can tell you this, I don't want Kesler to go. I'd rather he were the captain. unless we get a solid solid offer. Like two top 5 first round picks, a proven sophmore centre who is regular shift taking NHL'er.

Edler, Hansen, Tanev can all go as far as I'm concerned, not Kesler (see above).

Kesler could be a first line center on a lot of teams, former Selke winner, heart and soul, glue type of guy.

Yeah, that's ridiculous, I'll agree for sure. A 1st and top prospect/good young NHL'er is a reasonable return IMO. Centers like him don't become available very often these days.

The time to move him is now or at the draft for the Canucks, I hope Gillis has the balls to do it. And I love Kesler and will hate seeing him in another jersey.

Hopefully he's more open-minded than St.Louis and Iggy were with their NTC's. Gillis would get a very good return if 4+ teams had serious offers and bidding against each other.

Boy I wish Eklund used this kind of rational thinking before he hits the enter button on his computer.

Spot on analysis, I dont see it happening unless Doug Maclean's back in charge.
