Agreed. Philly would have a filthy offense with MSL.

If Marty really did ask for a trade, what lengths do you think Stevie Y will go to accommodate him. I would assume he wants to get back the best package in return, but with the bad blood there, would it be shocking if he tries to stick it to MSL?

Very curious how this will play out.

Yzerman is not the type of person to "stick it to somebody"

He's not coming to Philly...He not a fit and we dont have the assets or cap space for him and we need defense not scoring....no disrespect to this whiny little b####....I see the Rangers and Boston as better fits in the east and ST.Louis or Maybe even Nashville, as possible West spots who need scoring help, maybe Detroit there candle is burning out fast....I dont see him leaving but i beleive these are some teams that could make a serious run at him

There's definitely something missing to this story. I can't wait to find out what it is

Perhaps it has something to do with the coach John Cooper? I remember back when Vinny was having issues with John Tortorella and then he acted the same (frank)ing way....

doesn't work from a CAP perspective... unless Pitts have injury space.

Why would you do that for a 38 year old? Makes no sense whatsoever

While the title of this thread is "Eklund: St. Louis Trade Request Confirmed: What's Next”

Neither MSL or anyone from Tampa have confirmed this, correct?

I'm not really disputing the reports but I'd be utterly shocked if this happened, still.

Also if he were actually traded for Callahan, even with a Callahan extension, that would be one of the biggest ripoffs in YEARS

I have read all the posts on this and quite frankly, you people need to get a life. Most of you are delusional. He is 38 years old people How many years of productivity does he have left. He is not going to the Island or someplace similar. He is 38. Wake up. Yes he would fit well in Nashville NOT Detroit NOT Edm NOT and lot more than just do not make sense

That goes both ways...players rarely hand back their salary when they have a terrible season while earning a huge contract.

I'm not sure what fantasy world you live in where you think this would be remotely plausible to expect someone to do.

Agreed. Would have to be another valuable piece with Callahan. I bet he gets shipped out West if traded anyways.

THN claims that the Flyers are one of four possible teams that St. Louis will be traded to, along with NYR, LA, and PIT.

Why would Yzerman trade him? He's a PPG player and under contract.

I mean if the return is great sure, trade him. But the Lighting have a good chance to come out of the east this year, I wouldn't move your PPG top line winger.

Of course the Flyers are in on it, along with the Pens. They always are. MSL wants NY. His family lives in CT. and he is good friends with Brad Richards. Sather has been on this for a month already with Stevie Y.. Callahan is a decade younger but might as well have asked for a trade, with the salary demand, so he is going somewhere. Just a matter of where and for what. Not a good situation for the Rangers or the Bolts.

One would have to assume Letang would be going on LTIR. Via capgeek, if letang is put on LTIR and despres and gibbons plus a first rounder go to Tampa the penguins would have $460,000 in cap space.

Edit: But Vokoun coming back from LTIR would throw a wrench into things Pyatt would have to be waived and claimed so the penguins don't have any of his cap hit.

pissed off about his Olympic snub

Yzerman steps down, pissed off he couldn't take MSL in the 1st place

- Garnie

I'm sorry, but what a (frank)ing cry baby. Yeah you got left out of a superstar team. Get the (frank) over yourself. You're going to get so huffy that you request a trade from a great team this year? Tampa Bay will become a perennial contender in the near future and you want to leave for the most petty of reasons? Good riddance I'd say. There are plenty of wingers hungry to get a spot in tampa.

Yeah I'm a big MSL fan and he's haunted the Flames franchise for the last 14 years essentially but I have a hard time taking his side here.

I'm thinking there's something more to it than the initial Olympic snub, or at least I hope to think that.

- top shelf 15

And the Bruins have enough depth to take a shot at getting MSL. Imagine him a Bruin, meh
