Gaustad for a first is an abbreviation of the trade deadline. Come on, everyone here watches the deadline trades. We raped Nashville with that trade. Iginla got a 1st and two garbage prospects last year. I know he had a NTC, but Ott, shouldnt fetch more of a return than iginla even when all things are considered. - Mentalorgasm5
Martin Erat got a top 10 pick in Forsberg. Someone will most definitely pay the asking price for Ott. He's a special kind of player teams drool over for the playoffs. Just like Goose had a special skill set (faceoffs, PK) that Nashville drooled over. I can see him getting just as much maybe more than Moulson |

His cap hit is $5.625MM and also has some type of no-movement clause - not as easy as it sounds, especially because Yzerman won't trade him for a rental. - rcostel77
I believe it is a Full NMC. |

Yes, I heard every word that came out of his mouth last night.
HOWEVER, it will not be an easy task trading Miller, and I really think that Murray will not get garbage back for trading Miller.
Things always don't go the way you think they will go. - Sabresfan88
Right, I get that, but then tell me why would Miller want to resign here in the offseason? He also pretty much said he'd rather be elsewhere. |

Yes Erat got a prospect, Ott wouldn't command a top ten prospect plus a first. Plus everyone keeps searching for these one offs that seldom happen at the deadline. Pointing out trades that were instantly negatively received by all fans across all teams fan-bases. I sincerely fear he is starting to overvaluing rentals. |

Having his old buddy Brad there with him probably helps as well. |

Not necessarily. All you need to do is find a team that is going for it that year or a gm that is trying to keep his job. I can't think of several teams that fit the former (especially St. Louis as he would be their missing link). Washington fits the latter. The return might be lower than we like but it very well still might be great. |

He's been in the job a few months, with no other trades happening in the league, and you have already come to that conclusion? |

There's no reason that he can't sit and wait to see what happens over the next week. If things don't change by deadline day, then he may change what he wants. But as of right now, that's his asking price. There's nothing wrong with that.
He can't just give these guys away either. Trading Ott for anything less than a 2nd would be crazy because the likelihood that the player picked there actually turns out to be a decent contributor years down the road is small. |

I 100% agree which is why I said Ott would get traded for a 1st, nothing less, nothing more. And that I fear murray is overvaluing his players if he thinks he will get a 1st and a top prospect for Ott alone. |

Not to mention when the previous GM asked for such big returns started to get fewer and fewer phone calls. You know you ask for too much when a GM says they wont talk with him |

If this all is true it's pretty sad. I had a lot of respect for MSL that has been diminished in a big, big way.
IMO he's screwing his legacy in the league. |

Look at all the deadline deals, there are seldom instances where guys don't get overvalued by the team trading for them. |

Well that SHOULD be the asking price. You always ask for more than what you really think you are going to get. Just because that's what he wants doesn't mean he won't settle for something less and thus "overvaluing" his assets |

Supply and demand is really what comes into play here. There's 1 week until the deadline. That's still plenty of time for things to happen. |

Seems like a lot of politics are involved from a quick glance.
First Yzerman steps down from Hockey Canada
Now St.Louis requests trade.
And the best part is, none of this has anything to do with the NHL. |

Having spent a lot of time in Florida and currently residing in ct.... It's hard to blame him. Florida is a hole, Greenwich is SUPER fancy and extremely nice. |
