What they could get for Timonen could really help this franchise going forward...HOwever the flyers would never sell a key piece of their team even if it was his last year - nonpoint22
I don't want them to sell off timonen. I think that sends a bad message to your players. It pretty much poo poos the work they've done this season. Not good. However last year, I def would have traded him and risked not getting him back |

Because they're vital. They drive the offense and handle the hard work in their own end.
I bugs the poop out of me, because Giroux's basically a point per game player and he could be even better if the team could simply be better in transition - Jsaquella
If you think about it too much it will make you cry

yeah. you dont need lidstrom in his prime, but you need some sort of puck moving element from the back end to be successful in the game today |

Holmgren's acquisitions since '08 leading up to deadline: Prospal, Modry, Carcillo, Kubina, Leino, Versteeg, Grossmann, Mason. Impressed?
Not really...Leino, Grossman and Mason have worked out on different levels of success....other then that garbage |

I always knew Kris Versteeg was a third-liner on a good team, but I'm still angry at just how awful he truly was |

Your right they are and I can only hope one comes in....My guess is they try to sign UFA Dan Boyle in Off Season...even though that would be another patchwork job |

Prospal played pretty well in 2008. Modry was a shell of his former self, Kubina was DOA, Carcillo did some good things...Holmgren's not usually a big deadline guy anyhow. Clarke always made a move at the TDL. I doubt we see a big deal from homer.
You know now in ten minutes, Martin St Louis will be a Flyer |

Yeah Ill admit when that happened I was pumped and thought it was a good trade for the Flyers....soon did I realize how foolish I was |

I'd happily add Boyle on a two year deal this summer, to buy time for the kids to be ready. They could go for a lesser light, too, maybe see if the Canucks would trade Kevin Bieksa for a bit less than Edler. There's options out there, just got to keep knocking.
But with the kids they have, good, solid stopgaps may well be the best approach. |

It may be that the Olympics was simply the last straw. Yzerman has been running vets out and Marty might be pissed at how the Lecavalier situation was handled. I'd take St Louis in a heartbeat, but there's more pressing needs and problems.

I would be too..Homer plan seems to be small at the deadline and sign vets early in UFA, even if that means trading for rights, no reason to think it will change this year and yes Boyle would be a nice short upgrade and I believe he will move on from San Jose |

Not saying I wouldnt, but reportedly that isnt an option....maybe Vinny can give him a call and tell how great it is being a Flyer |

I do think a huge move happens at the draft, though. With it being in Philly, and the Flyers usually being very active traders at the draft...I just feel we see a bang there. |

Eric Lindros sat out, initially saying he wouldn't go anywhere but Toronto. The Flyers ended up sending him to New York. Who knows, St Louis could change his mind. I wouldn't be interested right now, but would visit a possible move at the draft |

Does the draft being in Philly really matter on making a splash or not.....Oh BTW I want to go to the draft and they better make a splash |

As we been discussing I think Defense is the sole priority right now....MSL is a good player, but doesnt make sense for us at this point IMO |

Not really, but that is when Homer makes his splashes. Pronger. Carter and Richards were right before the draft. Umberger. JvR. All draft day moves. |

Ideally, that is what I'd like to see. Actually, I'd like to see them sell. Trade the UFas to be, most of whom likely won't be back and get assets for them. - Jsaquella

Agreed. The Flyers have limited assets and St Louis doesn't fill a real need, outside of Ohhhh!!! Shiny! |

maybe late idk, but the 4th period has a write up that the flyers are trying to get eberle from the oilers and trying to dump mezs contract to create cap space to bring in a blueliner |
