Huh.

You know what? There'd have to be some kind of picks or something involved, some smaller pieces, but you know what?

If you know you're not paying Callahan and you don't get Girardi signed...I don't know that I wouldn't do something like that, if I was the Rangers. No, Lecavalier alone doesn't get Girardi out of there, but at the same time, if you really wanted to do a deal like that, you could find some pieces to make it work

Not sure about NYR's cap situation, but what about Gus?

That's the part that's a little unclear; but Newsday is saying that three people confirmed that the request was made last month. I saw a cryptic post from a reporter earlier today that the request was still on; gold medal didn't matter

If St. Louis is playing hardball with TB, why the hell did Yzerman cater to him and put him on the Olympic team? Now I'm annoyed Giroux wasn't there.

Have to give Martin St. Louis credit -- that dude holds a grudge at a higher level than some ex-wives I know

I love a good grudge and I especially like this one.

Can you imagine if NYR pulled out a line of:
B.Richards-V.Lecavalier-M.St.Louis.... HA! At least we know they have chemistry.

Didn't hear that. What's the injury? To the play the role of the arguer, Price could have been injured in practice today if he didn't attend the Olympics.

I don't think the details are out, but your point is entirely valid.

Still, looking at Tavares situation, I'm glad Giroux stayed home. I think Clode is better when he has a chip on his shoulder anyways.

True.

Or he could have further aggravated something he picked up at the Olympics.

They won't trade Hedman. They don't really need Schenn. They have a ton of forward prospects.

Hedman is on the verge of becoming a very very good player.

Perhaps. I think he deserved to be there. He got off to a slow start this year, but he's played as well as anyone since mid-December or so. As fans, we think of ourselves and are glad he didn't go because of the injury factor. The thing is, I'm sure it meant a lot to him to be there. If NHL players are excluded going forward he won't have the chance again.

"Montreal Canadiens star goaltender Carey Price left the team’s morning skate with what the club is calling a lower-body injury.

Canadiens coach Michel Therrien said Price aggravated the injury while representing Canada at the Sochi Olympics."

We're not a good fit with Tampa, I don't think -- they went young a couple of years ago, which is why they moved Lecavalier out. If they do wind up moving St. Louis, I'd bet they go looking for a deal that gets them a 3/4 defenseman

Can't disagree with any of that, but I still think that slighted/pissed off Giroux is the best Giroux.
