You'd need to move salary and Tampa would want a future and present asset.

THN claims that the Flyers are one of four possible teams that St. Louis will be traded to, along with NYR, LA, and PIT.
- JAKEw1234

That's just frustrating to read.

There's just no fit -- I recognize what the guy can do, but there's just no trade fit.

I have always liked that the Flyers are aggressive, and I always like more production from the forwards, but at some point, you just can't do a deal -- we don't have anything to offer for the guy that provides value for the Lightning that makes any kind of sense -- and it's not like the guy makes minimum wage!

There's not a deal that the Flyers could do for Martin St. Louis that they should do before they get some kind of puck-moving, mobile defenseman, if they're all of a sudden in the mood to give up assets!

I wasnt giving it a high probability, but I wouldnt be shocked to see a series of events that this happens. Homer still has to feel like his butt is on the line, and if he sits still and does nothing again and this team strikes out, i think it will be his head. I think he has to do something to make this team better for the future, without hurting the now...
- SchennBros

I believe that Homer has no pressure cause Hextall has probably already been given a timetable when he is going to take over...Honestly, the Flyers should be thinking about the future cause the roster right now isnt good enough...Also the main reason why I dont see a "series of events" is I dont think there are enough teams who are true sellers and would trade the kinda of players we covet at a price we would pay...Sorry I give it zero percentage chance of happening....All I see happening is we move Mez and maybe get a Mcdonald or Hainsey or somebody small and cheap IMHO

I think most teams are in the same boat though. I doubt he gets dealt at the deadline. If he's still throwing a temper tantrum by the offseason, they will deal him at the draft.

I hope your right. The right way to make this team better is by making the defene a coheisive unit. No Buffs, no Subbans, and If I hear weber again...

Get a MacDonald or Daley, then sign a Markov or Girardi.

I'd almost rather they do nothing if all they're going to do is make a modest upgrade on a guy they already have(Daley isn't much better than Gustafsson) and a solid 4th guy they'd have to overpay to acquire in MacDonald.

If you're going to expend assets, get a guy who is a clear upgrade.

Exactly -- I'm as aggressive as they come, and I don't love the eight guys we have on defense as a total unit, but sometimes there's no reason to burn assets just to shuffle the deck. They shouldn't be burning assets right now.

I want this team to play well, and I truly believe they could do damage in the playoffs, if they make it. But they're on a razor's edge, with regard to depth in the system. They've got Morin, and Laughton, and Ghost, who, depending on who you ask, all have the physical ability and production history to suggest they'll make an NHL roster.

And the current NHL roster isn't too old, by any stretch.

But unless an honest-to-gosh NHL Top 4 defenseman is coming back, burning assets right now...there's no reason to do it. They're in a playoff position now! And they just don't have enough pieces in the system to just gut it for lateral moves!

Try telling that to Dany Heatley.

"Trade me."

"Done. We've completed a deal with Edmonton. It's being announced now."

"Ummm...no, I don't really wanna go there. Try again."
