For sure. I do like what he brings to the table.
But he needs to play with quality players.

holland has hope, i like his game and i feel it will improve with more ice time and some positive feedback from coaching/staff.

I personally don't want to give Bolland a cent because who knows how he comes back? He could come back and play like a 1 million dollar player after we pay 4.5. Or we could trade him to recoup some assets and have him turn out to be fine. Or we pass the deadline and he walks.

Why the drama?

He won't be traded ..it's really not an option for a team hoping to win some playoff games. So it's simple - let him show what he's worth over the next 3 months and then make a decision on whether he's a fit.

The primary goal is to win playoff games ...not recoup mid round draft picks.

I'd trade him if he wants anything more than 4M. It's not worth the risk IMO. Re-coup some picks while you can, I don't forsee the Leafs battling for the cup this year anyway. I understand what Bolland brings, but everyone has to realize that we said the same thing about Clarkson in the off-season. I'd for once like to see the Leafs walk away from this situation and have cap room to mess with things in the summer or have cap space available going into next year.

I'm sure Kessel, JVR, Bernier and the core of the team would really appreciate that. We're in the playoff race .....naw (frank) it we quit.

Sacrificing a pick or two to get deeper in the playoffs and help the core gain experience is well worth it.
