I think players enjoy playing for their hometown team MORE so than other teams. But I think the vast majority base 90% of their decision on $$$$$$$$$.
I think their are a lot of factors that go into that decision but I think "hometown" is a minor one unless there are circumstances besides "LOVED THEM AS A KID". (aka Paul Ranger with his wife) |

no he didnt. toronto had to outbid i believe ottawa for his services.
a player isnt going to toss away 1 to 2 million dollars just to play for his fav team.. thats a fairytale - Dozzer
You really think that? I see hometown discounts during resigns all the time. UFA discounts are just how much you won't over pay. Cause everything is.
Ottawa is still close enough for family. |

Dozzer please explain that pay cut doesn't equal getting underpaid/still overpaid.
The frenchies don't seem to understand this concept. Must still be bitter about Gomez.
Yes, clarksons been poop and is getting paid right now more than what he brings. That's not the point. - CanadianBodmon

Yes. For two very very good reasons.
1. The Leafs are in a playoff position; (they want him)
2. Bolland isn't healthy. (other teams don't want him) - The Law
Ok. Very short-sighted and optimistic IMO. |

David Alter @DavidAlter590
Dave Bolland is practicing but has switched to a maroon (non healthy) jersey instead of the line jersey he had before. That can't be good.

Bolland did leave practice a little bit early yesterday. We'll get an update later. - Fruitcakenipple

But kinda true.
Bolland has been huge in the playoffs and was integral with blackhawks during their two cup wins.
Nonis wont get a great value (if anything) for bolland right now.
Dont trade him. |

Can't see Nonis making a deadline deal unless he is able to find a low cost shutdown D man. We could use another one of them. |

Alright, since there is nothing else to discuss. Lets flesh this out a bit.
Possible Bolland Scenarios:
1) Get's healthy in the next few games, comes back and plays well. Gets signed for 3.75-4.
2) Get's healthy in the next few games, comes back and plays well. Gets signed for 5+ because it's Toronto.
3) Get's healthy in the next few games, comes back and plays terrible. Gets signed for 3.75-4 anyways.
4) Get's healthy in the next few games, comes back and plays terrible. Gets signed for 5+ anyways because it's Toronto.
5) Get's healthy in time for playoffs. Plays well. Gets signed for 3.75-4.
6) Get's healthy in time for playoffs. Plays well. Gets signed for 5+ because its Toronto.
7) Doesn't come back this season at all. Hits UFA.
8) Doesn't come back this season at all. Get's 5+ because its Toronto.
9) Doesn't come back this season at all. Gets 3.5-4.
10) Traded for peanuts in the next 6 days.
