So stop pounding your chest. In 5 more years Trivial Pursuit will be adding the question, Name the last living Maple Leaf to win a cup. |

I just thought it was interesting you mentioned not doing squat in the past 5 years,
the leafs are well on their way to back to back playoff appearances which is a step in the right direction. Not trying to rag on the flames, but no Canadian team really has any bragging rights.
note: getting 1 win away from the cup doesnt = a cup victory |

Ek, I saw you mentioned that Nashville will never, ever trade Weber. While you may be right, I had dinner tonight with a friend who has some connections to Nashville. He told me that the owners feel they made a but of a mistake by matching with their own personal cash to do it. He said they stockpiled D men and were considering a deal involving Braydon Schenn and Sam Morin. He didn't have all the details and again, he could be wrong, but since he has close ties to the organization, I at least gave it some credibility. The rest of the HB community can now have their field day w the info. |

Correct. Meaning the Flames' Cup means absolutely nothing in a pissing contest over whether they're more or less pathetic than whatever other franchise. Which was basically my point about the guy bringing up the Leafs' ancient Cup wins as if they meant anything when comparing the CONTEMPORARY team - the only one that matters - to Vancouver.
In any case, so you're not as pathetic as the Flames. (frank)ing congratulations. |

I guess name the last nuck to win the cup would be too easy, even for a 3 year old |

Again, you overlook that what I was saying had nothing to do with the Flames
ultimately my purpose isn't to claim the Flames are better than any other team, since that's a pretty difficult argument to make at this point, but merely to point out idiotic arguments and make fun of them |

like i said, there's a lot of logic to Nashville deciding not to commit to the rest of that poison pill deal, but I'd still be a bit surprised if they did it, even with their d-men stockpile |

Who hasn't at least made the finals in the past 30 years? Oh yeah, the Leafs. |

Fun Fact Ryan Miller had more assists tonight then Ville Leino has goals all season. |

I believe it. I remember the interwebs and actual pubs during the 04 lockout.. talk about cabin fever.
I just find solace in Canadian fans ripping into each other.. brings me back to the good old days of true rivalries, not these NHL created ones we get forced to endure, like.. "Wednesday Night Rivalry." (frank) that noise. |

It's rather sad/pathetic when you realize that most of the arguments revolve around which team is most incompetent...ie the "Battle of Alberta"
On the other hand, I find the somewhat inexplicable rivalry between Vancouver and Toronto fans pretty hilarious |

My friends at work laughed at me today when I listed in order my least favorite teams.
1. Canucks
2.Leafs
3.Flames
4.Jets
5. Habs
6. Sens
All sunbelt teams except LA I am completely indifferent to...don't care enough to hate them. |

I'm torn. I wouldn't say the "NEVER EVER EVER" thing that Ek is doing - smacks of his longtime blind optimism with anything related to Nashville - but I would still be SLIGHTLY surprised if he in fact got dealt. I know it's a poison pill deal but still, Weber is a pretty god damned difficult player to replace, even considering that Nashville has Jones and others.
I mean I'd be slightly terrified if Edmonton ever actually pulled off that "Eberle+ for Weber" deal that everyone's speculated about for months. - S Kaspar Rollins
Eklunds right, Shea Weber is staying in Nashville for the foreseeable future. He means too much to the franchise in terms of skill, ticket sales, and season ticket holders. If Poile deals Weber the franchise would vent support and in two years the Seattle Predators take to the ice. The only way Weber goes is if the return is good enough to impress and ensnare the notoriously dumb Nashville Predators fan base (I can say this, I am a die hard Preds fan). I'm talking Malkin-Weber, Giroux-Weber, or (stick tap to you) Eberle+Hall-Weber...MAYBE....
the asking price is too high for any team to match |

Growing up, I was expected to hate St. Louis, Toronto, Montreal, Minnesota, and ESPECIALLY Chicago. I actually rooted for Chicago almost as much as I did Detroit in the 80s and 90s, grew up between the two cities. |
