If you pay him enough he will. The Sabres will be a playoff team in 2015-2016 season.

Cap space.
- Iggysbff

I'd assume enough cap space would be going back to make this deal worthwhile for buffalo though no? If they send Halak and another piece, they'd be able to fit him in. And ultimately the question is: Do you (STL) want to win a cup badly enough now? That team should be a contender for the next 5 years, IF they pony up now while a juicy opportunity awaits. They could always just wait till the summer though and try and nab him then with nothing leaving.

Ek, did you listen to WGR 550 in Buffalo this morning from 10-11 before you posted this? They talked about all of these same scenarios. Nice "sources"

No.

Brodeur today is not an upgrade over Halak, so that makes no sense for the Blues to go after Brodeur.

Finally, someone from the Blues fan base tackles this massive issue.

The Blues need D and Goaltending like the Oilers need high draft picks.

The only thing the Blues need is to ride out this season, go into the playoffs and hope their offensive numbers show up in the playoffs.

Oilers do need high draft picks. That's the only way they'll get Ekblad. Unless they win the lottery then they'll pick Reinhart and then trade one of their untouchables for defense...oh wait, I think I've seen this movie before. #murray

I think Radulov in Colorado makes sense. I could see him wanting to come back to the NHL for the right team (and I think there are a few out there, not just Colorado). For the Avs, the risk isn't really that big, it's just a financial commitment, they don't have to give up any assets to bring in a winger that could potentially boost the Top 6 and power play. I feel like an fast, young, offensive minded hockey club that is looking for him to put the puck in the net would be enticing for him, plus there is Varly, which I think would help a little bit.
