I really really doubt there won't be an interesting enough offer for him at the deadline...

Thanks,
I'm not suggesting it would send the wrong message to the team.

I'm suggesting the team would be seriously hampered this season if they traded him.

And you know what, the Habs aren't likely to win the cup, but they have a chance to make it out of the East with the goalie they have, and how open the East actually is. We'll see how the next couple of weeks go.

- EricEngels

Thanks for the response,
There is always a chance Carey can led them deep. Just hate to see a missed opportunity if he walks. Though Markov has indicated that he wants to be there. Will be interesting to see what happens.
Again, great read.

Come on, there's close to no value for a guy's rights...so you're saying you'd rather risk losing Markov for a 3rd-4th rounder than trade him right now if there's an interesting offer on the table at the deadline ?
- BashCH

I'm saying, like I said in the blog, that the risk of losing him for a 3rd-4th rounder by trading his rights and freeing up space his salary would fill is a smarter risk to take than trading him at the deadline for a 1st rounder in a weak draft. It's smarter given the team's current situation. It's smarter considering the team's future. I

t's brilliant if it works out and the risk doesn't come into the equation because Markov plays well and is willing to sign for 2 years at the end of it.

Carey Price will win the Vezina and Hart.

What about the Theodore curse?

I hope he wins nothing.

This. And if he is available, it's at least a first round pick but maybe a 1st and a prospect. Trade him, give the ice time to Beaulieu and Tinordi and move on.

I would like to see Markov stay for 2 or three years here, but not if it is a gamble.

That currency is pretty cool, a guy in my class bought a dozen of bitcoins when they were 70$, and sold them for 1350 $ each

Well, unless Bergevin has a plan to turn the Habs into Team Canada, that is.

LA has reportedly offered a 1st, Pearson and Clifford for Markov.

I'd counter with Clifford, Toffoli and a 1st round pick for Markov and Moen.

If iots not working, i'd do the base deal in a heartbeat.

It's not offensive at all.
If Markov wants a deal before the summer, that's the only deal he can be offered. That's the business these guys are in. He's been around long enough to understand that.

- EricEngels

Eric, if I may.

Let's say you're Markov, would you sign a 1 year deal knowing you could get 2-3 on possibly a better team at your age?, Nope, see bolded.

If MB's back is against the wall and all he can offer is a 1 year deal, it ain't gonna happen, unless he catches Markov with a goat.

I hope that MB is smart enough to deal him while his value is high (like soon).
