The Dolt? You mean the guy who was 49-29-5-3 as head coach of the Phantoms, and has a Flyers team that started 1-7-1 at 30-23-6?

The guy who deserves to be in the Jack Adams conversation? That guy?

- MBFlyerfan

um no....the GM would ask the Jack Adams coaching canidate we have to put him in.....I like the job Berube has done.

You can't have Berube in that conversation because it goes against the narrative that the Flyers are terrible and don't have a goaltender.

Here is a question. What will it take for the Flyers to win the Stanley Cup this year.

1. Mason will have to be MVP
2. No injuries
3. Penguins and Boston have to get knocked out early
4. Do not face Chicago in Finals.

I think they can beat the Pens. They'll need their defenseman to play the best they've ever played.

Edit: I wouldn't predict that they'd beat the Pens, but I think they're capable. The Bruins are just a tough matchup.

In addition to all four of those, they'd have to give a perfect effort literally every game. Zero mistakes.

Also this. Even then, one mistake would spoil the illusion.

Yes to 1, 2, and 4. I think a hot Giroux and Mason can be enough to eek out 1 upset. They'd have to have everyone get on a crazy hot streak to win 2 rounds.

They can beat the Penguins. Or, actually, they can make the Penguins beat themselves. So, that's possible.

They would need a team out of the West to make the Finals with several key injuries (i.e. LA without at least 2 of Doughty, Quick, Carter, and Brown). That's why they can't face Chicago; if several of their superstars go down, the other superstars are still there.

5. Every team in the league quits, leaving the flyers as the default cup winner.

Or

6. God intervenes and powers us to victory.

We will not win the cup this year. Period.

Best road to the SCF to me would be:

realistically.
1 Pit
8 Blue Jackets

2 Bruins
7 Canadians

3 Lightning
4 leafs

5 Flyers
6 Rangers

Pit Beats Columbus. Canadiens beat Bruins, Leafs beat lightning. Flyers beat Rangers.

Round 2
Pitt Vs Montreal Flyers vs Leafs.

Round 3
Pitt Vs Flyers

SCF
Flyers vs Vancouver.

The Rangers are a terrible draw for the Flyers. Im not even sure the Flyers have won 4 total games against them over the last 3 seasons.

after they trade their captain at the deadline the rangers will fall into ruin. it's a good thing CSP lost the gold medal. i hope the defeat buries him mentally.

Or:

1) Any combo of Giroux, Voracek, Schenn, Coburn, Mez, Simmonds, or Hartnell go on a tear
2) Team defense is tight, as they played on the CA trip
3) Special teams clicks

Good teams find ways to win. This is a good team.

If they make the playoffs, it'll be fun.
