Due to injuries, suspensions and line shuffling, we've barely had an accurate or fair gauge of what Clarkson can do. No real consistent amount of games without disruption of some sort.

fair point. like i said, haven't seen him play much, just what i read seems to be mostly negative.

I just watched some Ott fights..

Im starting to change my mind on him....though he was a bit tougher than that.

- Gunslinger

I did the same, I didn't think Ashton could beat his meat.

ott is basially a more offensively gifted version of kaleta (minus the dirty play)....he's not a fighter, he's an agitator.

Maybe I stopped watching too soon, but after watching Ott get schooled by Ashton, Clarkson and Prust....I was like meh...

Still, I think he could be a useful player as depth...but whatever.

He's neither a goon or heavyweight, but he's a fighter.

He might be an agitator too, but he's had too many seasons of fights in the double digits to just be an agitator. As he has gotten older his fight totals are declining, but he's not a Matt Cooke/Dave Bolland type exactly. Agitators don't fight 10, 11, 13, 16 etc times a season.

Kaletas regular season fights probably aren't all that much more than Ott's highest season.

Edit: Kaleta 22 regular season fights, Otts highest season total 16.

fair enough................instead of saying he isn't a fighter, i'll rephrase to say he isn't a good fighter.

maybe kaleta was a bad example. i guess he's more like neil then, only neil is a better fighter.

that being said, i agree with you in that i'd definitely take him on my team.

it's too bad burke worried so much about spelling skills, and not about guys who could actually play hockey.

hasn't kulemin been playing in your top six recently though? i know you have 3 wingers ahead of him (lupul, kessel, jvr), but is there a 4th?

- sensarmy_11

Oh they had good guys, they just gave up after the semis...

And yes, Kule has been playing topsix while clarkson was injured, he did a decent enough job there.

oh, some of their guys were definitely good. but they took some guys, while leaving CLEARLY better players at home, in an attempt to define roles or something.

taking orpik over yandle was dumb. taking guys like wheeler, stastny, and brown over guys like okposo and ryan was dumb.

in a "best vs best" you need to take your best players. the US ended up being pretty much a one line team, who were easily shut down when playing agianst good competition.

like i said, i think burke did a real good job with the leafs, but made a lot of mistakes with the US team.

I was mind blown when yandle was left off the roster. Only reason Orpik and Martin even had a sniff was because of Blysma.

I think the problem was they hired the wrong coach

IIHF standings: Due to some weird formula, likely concocted by merging the math of the BCS and ATP Tour, Canada – winner of the last two Olympic tournaments — now ranks third in international hockey.

Shows what the media knows--nothing. Kessel did nothing when it counted. Zero points in the medal games.
- haymac

I agree. I don't understand why everyone is so smitten with Kessel. I guess he led the Olympics in points but seriously, he scored those against two of the worst teams in the Olympics and playing against their 2nd lines. Against tough teams he did nothing except give the puck away. Meh.

And just as his line with Loops and Kadri looked like it was starting to click a bit... BAM! Olympics.

Guy can't find consistency this season.. I don't expect it to last

there are more international tournaments than the olympics.

those rankings factor in all of them.
