well technically if they beat Canada they would have won a medal too - Arctic_AARDVARK
That doesn't make it a medal game it makes it what it was a semi final game there aw no medal being awarded after that game. |

Shows what the media knows--nothing. Kessel did nothing when it counted. Zero points in the medal games. - haymac
ugh, i can't believe i'm gonna defend a leafs player........
did you even watch the game against canada? kessel was literally the only player (other than quick) who even showed up for that game. no, he didn't score, but he had multiple good chances, and made things happen when he was on the ice.....and that was despite the fact that he was being matched up against toews, who may be the most complete player in the leauge.
now, if you'll excuse me, i'm gonna go throw up and hate myself. |

Tell me about it. We're not moving Kulemin for a 2nd. Russia didn't do so hot, but Kulemin still made the team.
He's just as effective as Clarkson, but just happens to be Russian, so that doesn't count. |

I think kulemin could fetch a first. i think lots of GMs probably realize that he isn't used by RC in a way that maximizes his potential, and in the right situation i think he would find his form from a few years ago. maybe not 30 goals again, but easily a 20-25 goal guy. i'd welcome him to ottawa with open arms, and kind of hope murray goes after him in the offseason.
any indication what he's asking for, and if the leafs will re-sign him? |

He's probably going to want north of $3.5M per, and for us, on the 3rd line, that's too much. We have Clarkson down there chewing up cap space doing the same job. |

i don't think our coach is gonna bury him on the 3rd line and put him in a shutdown role. - sensarmy_11
And yet for us, that's where he fits.
Our guys know how to spell "intensity", you see....

you have to think that he gets that EASILY. i'd have no problem signing him for 3-4 years at that cap hit. |

it's too bad burke worried so much about spelling skills, and not about guys who could actually play hockey.
hasn't kulemin been playing in your top six recently though? i know you have 3 wingers ahead of him (lupul, kessel, jvr), but is there a 4th? |

Guys, I want the Leafs to get Ott.
He's decent on faceoffs, can play wing or C, plays physical, veteran, chips in a goal every 4 games or so, will drop the gloves and make Orrs and McLarens obsolete....
What do you fools think? |

Speaking of Burke and not worrying about guys who can play hockey....but check the bolded.
4th guy is a mix bag of Kulemin, Clarkson and Raymond. |

Clarkson.
Kuli was on 2nd line while Clarkson was hurt. Since coming off LTIR Clarkson has been on 2nd line, as he should be. |

Pass.
With Bolland back he really doesn't fit in the lineup
And carter Ashton kicked Otts ass. He in no way makes Orr and FML obsolete. |

serious question. is clarkson on the 2nd line because his play warrants it, or is he on the 2nd line because his contract warrants it?
it seems that most of what i've been reading about clarkson is that he's been pretty poopty (when he's been playing) this year. Or at least, not producing. |

Ashton got lucky.
Ashton couldn't fight his way out of a wet paper bag.
Bolland hasn't even started playing again and lord knows how rusty or close to 100% he will be.
I was thinking more along the lines of injury insurance down the stretch and in the playoffs, and his veteran experience could be valuable. Orr and McLaren already are obsolete, to be honest, but until we get more toughness in our line up I fear Carlyle will keep trotting those guys out.
Best case scenario, Bolland is healthy and Ott joins him and Kulemin on the 3rd line, forcing Orr/McLaren out of the line up. Worst case scenario he fills in for an injured Lupul, Bolland, Clarkson...you know, the healthy guys we never need to replace.

Due to injuries, suspensions and line shuffling, we've barely had an accurate or fair gauge of what Clarkson can do. No real consistent amount of games without disruption of some sort. |
