So, if both Bolland and Smith are reactivated from LTIR and assuming Ashton is sent back down to the Marlies, the Leafs will be aprox. $20K over the cap.
Who gets moved/sent through waivers? - vermie22
If Bolland is back and healthy then I don't see why Smith doesn't get sent down. |

Definitely, the team that won 3 playoff games against the big, bad Bruins and almost a 4th. Had them on their heels, taking cheap shots, trying to sneak Chara on the ice every icing call, tossing water bottles on the ice.
Leafs choked, we all know it. But to say they would be lucky to win a game against Boston is a bit over the top - TheThrill
They took the Leafs lightly last year IMO, you won't be fooling them again, they'd be ready. |

Bodie and Smith have to clear waivers, I'd rather lose Orr on waivers than take a chance on two players that actually contribute to the Leafs. - LeafMan
yup, me too
but we dont make the call
i'd be surprised if bodie or smith didnt clear waivers as well.. every team has their share of fringe NHLers like that. they arent exactly rare commodities |

Yup. And the Kings and Sharks took the 'nucks lightly the last two years as well.
....IMHO of course. |

I don't think that's true at all, Nucks have had a very good team, which is the opposite of the Leafs, over the past several years. Teams don't like them and get up to beat them. |

I agree with you, play the games, and then save the excuses until after. We took them too lightly. Should have clued in after the first 5 minutes of the game then. |

Thursday!? WTF - that's too long to wait. Actually maybe after being spoiled by TC then watching the Leafs D continually cough up the puck and get hemmed in their zone for minutes at a time, I might end up thinking it wasn't enough of a wait. |

I've never seen anything like it. Might never again.
Edit: are we supposed to hate each other again yet, or are we still basking in the post goldal glow? |

as funny as it sounds, I prefer the exicitment/stress/entertainment of the Leafs winning games via goalies standing on their head, and speed/talent.
Don't get me wrong, I would love to see the Leafs spend less time chasing the game in their own end. But those TC games were boring. |

Give that group a few more games together and they sure would not be. |

You have to wonder, what their career would have been like, if they did NOT play together every game.

wow really? i don't find any game boring where my rooting interest is dominating play. it might not be entertaining for partial observers since it's not that competitive. but i have a hard time believing you wouldn't like seeing the Leafs smack teams around the way the Canadians did last week. that was beautiful. |

True, the gold medal game was the best one, and you could really see the lines starting to gel.
Just really don't like hockey that is that systematic. No real room for the talent to shine with the risky but jaw doping plays. |

The plays that would start showing, would be far more controlled passing, and even more dominant zone control.
Forcing the opponents to collapse in their own end would eliminate the breakout type plays. |

It's lonely at the bottom, at least the Flames and Oilers are here to keep us company

Honestly it would be hard to say. For sure I would love the Leafs to have a dominate winning record, but the current team/system keeps me on the edge of my seat with both plenty of excitement and plenty of anger. Watching them play is an emotional rush on most nights.
It was nice to see Canada not give an inch in the final 2 games, but I was honestly sitting their wanting something to happen to make it more exciting. Guess I just like the rush of more extreme emotions. |

i will give you that it was anti-climactic. and i can't imagine many people outside Canada look at that tournament as a spectacle of beautiful hockey. |

in fairness to the nucks.. their second line has been decimated by injuries..
and as us leaf fans know.. if you only have one line that can score.. its easy for the top pairing defensemen to line up against your one scoring line.
man oh man am i ever happy thats no long the case for the leafs |
