You are correct!
Most fans think Miller is past his prime, or close to it, which I disagree. - Sabresfan88
Millers "Style of play" isnt "old" , most of our fans would just prefer getting a haul of riches for him. My darkhorse trade spot is Dallas and my most likely is Washington.
I just think he can be replaced by a handful of goalie who will be on the market |

Reinhart is the cream of the crop.. His vision and hockey IQ make him the best forward.. then Ekblad... then the rest...
I see us taking Reinhart at #1... EDM taking Ekblad at #2.. and then Buffalo getting NYI's 1st in the 4-6 range and winding up with dal Colle/Draistl/Bennett - JVince11
not sure why you think the islander would not retain this years draft pick? they are going to finish bottom 3. the "plan" would be to be a playoff team next year with additions to defense and goaltending which is inevitable this offseason.
isles are going to keep this years draft pick, hopefully play miserable enough to land ekblad. |

Buffalo needs to sell, this is obvious....Miller isnt the future there and with the market the way it is you could get a nice haul back for basically anyone who contributes anything - nonpoint22
Besides a superstar studded Chicago team.... only elite goalies have won the Stanley Cup in the past what... 10-15 years?
Miller is elite. They don't grow on trees.
Philly fans should know this.. Philly would probably have had a Stanley Cup or two in the past decade IF they had the elite goaltending needed.

I think most of our fans short sighted JT's injury and still think pre injury thinking you would land somewhere from 6-10 which could be a 50/50 split. I dont trust Gaff SNow making any decisions. Morse curious to see what you all do wiht moving to Brooklyn. |

They are not a UFA hot destination... no one is going to go there by choice..
I don't see them being any better than a bottom 10 team next year.. If they give us their 1st next year then NYI doesn't have a pick until what hte 3rd round in one of the deepest drafts?
This year's draft besides Reinhart and Ekblad wouldn't be top 8 in next year's draft. And even Reinhart and Ekblad would barely be top 3 or 4. |

proves you dont know much about their current prospect pool. isles are going to be a completely different team next year, with a MUCH better defense.
hard to remember now, but at the beginning of the year the islanders were considered one of the best teams of the future...that apparently has been forgotten by fans of 29 other teams. offense is hard to come by in this league, and thats one thing the isles actually have. |

I don't think you can replace a goalie like Miller that easily. |

As much respect as I have for Miller as a player, I think for Buffalo as an organization moving him and replacing him in FA would be the smart move...as you so intimated ....just my opinion |

and then..... Garth Snow...
NYI and OTT both shot up the standings in a shortened season last year and made some waves in the playoffs...
but it appears both have returned to norm.
I would love to hear what UFAs are going to come to NYI this offseason... what Goalie is going to be their star in net...? This years UFA group is pretty weak actually and the cream of the crop like Gabby, Cally, etc are NOT coming to NYI I guess unless 7M/7YR deals are flying out the windows. |

The problem is... There is no better options in UFA that are possible to come to Buffalo for another 1.5 years of rebuilding...
Enroth is not a full time goalie... Halak won't be here....
Maybe Elliot or Greiss splitting 50/50 with Enroth is our best bet and if that is the case then we are FOR SURE not winning more than 25 games next year.
Buffalo can pay Miller 7M per year.. we need to get to the cap floor in a bad way.. Miller has basically said.. Cali or Buf.. that is it...
SJ - Niemi was a Vezina finalist
LA - Obviously not
ANA - they could but they are VERY VERY high on Gibson, Anderson, and Fasth. Why would they spend all of their money on a goalie??
doesn't make sense...
my money is on Miller signing to retire a Sabre. |

It is unfair to put OTT in that same group.. I actually REALLY respect Ottawa and what they have and what they are doing...
I don't know what is missing... maybe it is the gel of the lines with new guys in there this year vs last year.. idk.. maybe they are missing Alfie that much.. |

i think miller is gonna be signing away from buffalo faster than any other UFA hitting the market.
with that said, i don't think you are giving your prospect Matt Hackett enough credit. i read last month that he's taken huge strides in his development and looks like he can not only be a bonafide #1 starter, but potentially an elite one. the article compared him to pekke rinne i believe. |

Well he was benched on our AHL team for Lieuwen... and with Lieuwen Rochester has won I think 10 of their last 12 games...? Went from last to 7th seed in the playoffs.
I like Hackett.. but I think that Ullmark is our best goalie prospect.. he is absolutely OWNING on MODO right now.. (I think it is MODO)...
Even Makarov I would put higher than Hackett in the long run. |

The Rangers and Oilers are talking and a few sources are hinting that Callahan and Yakupov may be in the discussions... COMPLETE NONSENSE
The Islanders are very interested in acquiring Evander Kane... TOTAL NONSENSE
The Flyers appear to be targeting Andrew MacDonald from the Islanders as well as Dustin Byfuglien... They would not be acquiring both players...Trevor Daley looks like he may be another option... POSSIBLE
The Sens have interest in acquiring BOTH Steve Ott and Matt Moulson from Buffalo... POSSIBLE
Sam Gagner still has many possible new teams looking...the top three being Buffalo, LA, and Tampa... NO ONE WANTS GAGNER |

source? Cause we hear the exact opposite and have another goalie Nathan Lieuwen getting more starts than Matt "Cant" Hackett |

Well I think you guys have a little longer then 1.5 yrs of rebuilding...i am guessing 2-3 yrs til we see a competitive Sabres again...and I dont know if Miller will want to wait that long for a TOTAL rebuild of a franchise..You got some impressive prospects, but that what they are until they can show you they can do it at the NHL level...as far as replacing Miller, I agree he is better then what you would sign or trade for, but given the position your in i just think that add to the mix of young talent is the way to go......and even though they are high on them Ana is the place I would be looking....not enough starts for all of them
