I don't think that turning down that trade meant that the Ducks had no interest in Miller...it's more that they could wait until the end of the season to sign him as a UFA and keep Gibson and their 1st. (Miller's already said that he wants to go there and Anaheim will have the cap to match whatever Buffalo will pay)

The way I see it, who would make a better mentor for the next 5 years or so for the highest ranked American rookie goaltender, than one of the best American goalies of all-time.

Look at Anaheim to trade Fasth or Andersen by the deadline. They'll hold onto Miller to end the season and let him walk as a UFA.

Miller said he would like to play closer to his Wife who lives in Cali... he never said "I want to play for Anaheim"

And I am pretty sure that Anaheim cannot match any dollar amount that we offer Miller...

I agree. Hate to throw Morin away before giving him a shot or seeing him develop in our system. Has the size of a giant as an 18 year old and when you put some muscle weight on him in a few seasons, scary what he will be fully polished up. But i wonder what it would take. I'd throw both schenns in, laughton, first round.
- arichardson22

see thats the thing it would take a ton...I try to compare with what we gave Ana for Pronger...Lupul,Sbisa,two 1st and a conditional 3rd....Weber would take more, imo, so I thinking Coots or B.Schenn, Laughton, Morin...and two 1st....TOO MUCH...sorry NO SOUP FOR YOU NEXT!!!! ...

We have a crap load... and we will buy out Leino too..

We are gonna have to hand out like 25M in UFA just to get to the Cap floor.

Supposedly.. we offered Moulson 6.5M for 5 years, have ball-parked Miller at 7M for 7 years.. and have told Callahan's agent we would match the 7M for 7 Years that he desires...

Garth snow couldnt put together a puzzle made for a pre schooler

Granted y'all wont be much better when Darcy Regier is your next GM

- hubie

Darcy may have learned a lot from his Buffalo days. He would not be my first choice but I would not call him a horribe GM. Brooklyn would give him more resources than Buffalo did. It's not the easiest thing trying to attract FA's to Buffalo.

And i doubt we are going to trade our first rd pick this year when draft is in philly. I just can't get a read on what we are trying to pull off this trade deadline, or if anything is needed that can actually help us in the future. Especially with how tight this metropolitan division is turning out to be for a playoff spot. Doubt the organization or fans can take back to back years missing playoffs

Well Tsn is reporting the St-Louis for Callahan thing so there must be some truth to actual trade talks between the Rangers and Lightning.

Edit: (sorry forgot) I guess the Rangers are looking to add skill over grit.

- Alexzanki

The thought that MSL is worth pending UFA Callahan straight up is laughable. It is even more laughable when the "reports" say the Bolts would include an extra draft pick IF Callahan is re-signed to his inflated extension.

What almost undoubtedly happened is Sather called Yzerman to inquire about Marty hoping against hope that the original Team Canada snub caused a big enough rift between Marty and Yzerman that SY would deal Marty.

Now, back to the compensation package in a MSL trade. Did I mention it is laughable?

If Anaheim trades Fasth and decides not to re-sign Miller, than right there that clears up 7.4 million. He never said he wanted to play in Anaheim directly, but if Anaheim decided to offer 7 mill for 5 years where he can actually live in the OC with his wife and spend his winters hanging out on sandy beaches instead of shoveling his driveway...what would YOU do?

Plus Anaheim is a young, competitive team that can challenge for a cup ever year for the next 5 years, especially after what they can do at this point with 2 1st rounders this year that will only help improve the club.

I'd love to get a stud goalie prospect...

Lehner.... or Either of the TB prospect goalies behind Bishop/Lindback. The one goalie for TB was the Team Latvia goalie who stopped like 60 shots against Canada.

- JVince11

Vasilevski isn't going anywhere

Gudslevis could probably be had HOWEVER it would be an overpayment simply in the fact that Bolts don't need to deal him and can let him continue to develop next season with Vasi in Syracuse

I would have kept Neil Smith as GM. Isles had Patty, Neil Smith and Nolan and screwed it up. They need to hire someone like Jimmy D to be president and let him run the show and pick his GM.

Have Stafford, Pysyk, and 2nd rounder (1st pick of the 2nd round) for your troubles.

I can only speak for me, but if missing the playoffs again gives me a sense that we are building toward something greater then I am ok with it..I am tired of watching us give up on kids too early trade them for players who are at the end of there prime, if not completely over there prime, and then watch the young kids help another organization win a cup...its time to stop patchworking this team and build it up....FYI this years example is Vinny, I always loved watching Vinny play, but he was exactly what we didnt need and surprise, surprise we have no place to play him cause he is a center which is the one position we have in spades...Hextall please take over this team NOW!!!

Moulson AND Ott would be a solid pick up for Ottawa and their playoff chances...but do they really have the assets to trade and not hurt their chances this year? Their prospect pool is rather thin past Ceci is it not? Would they consider trading Zibanejad with Spezza and Turris holding the top two centre positions? Would Murray do the unthinkable and trade Lehner and take a gamble on Ottawa competing for a Cup in the next 3 years with Anderson in net? A lot of questions

agreed. JVR was my favorite flyer when he made the roster and it still hurts me today with how well he plays for Toronto. Has a long bright future a head of him too. He would have been great to have with giroux or schenn currently.
