If I was GM, for eberle, i'd want myers plus one of your "big" prospects (radulov, ristolainen, grigo, etc.) - sensarmy_11
I think you mean Zadorov as Radulov is Nashville property. The premise of trading Myers is because we are counting on Ristolainen and Zadorov as being part of our future top 4 D-men so they are out unless we get the NYI's first this year and then take Ekblad and a forward which would make one of those two expendable. Would you really want two Russians on your team that don't want to put the team over their own selfish goals? |

lol, my bad. i meant the big tall (frank)er you guys drafted last year, that i REALLY wanted ottawa to draft.
also, i'm not saying buffalo SHOULD make that trade, i just think that's what edmonton would want. |

Which is fine. But if we're talking Eberle (weren't we?) then you're gonn have to overpay and part with one of those if Myers is the centerpiece. |

it's becuse they count the world championship, world jr's (where we've sucked the last few years), as well as the world under 18 championships. In the under 18's, instead of Canada entering 1 dominant team, usually enter 3-4 teams, divided by region (atlantic, quebec, ontario, west, etc), and usually don't do as well as countries who enter only one team. |

If you realized how bad our goaltending was, you would know if they upgrade it, the isles could easily be a playoff team next year. Top 10 in NHL in goals. - Isles316
The problem is no one knows anything about our team, so I'll have to explain it again-
For those of you who post on this website and say things about the Islanders without knowing anything except stat lists, box scores, and other things that are said by journalists who don't know anything about them either (there's a difference between being knowledgeable about "hockey" and knowing the specifics of a given team), I am going to give you a brief rundown of about 90% of what's wrong there- basically, it's the coach.
This coach is a disaster. They don't play defense; in fact, the way they play leads me to believe that they don't even know that you're allowed to play defense- it IS truly that bad. The only decent goaltender we have at the NHL level is ancient, and the defensive personnel isn't the greatest, but other teams are also weak in a lot of personnel areas. I just watched a Latvia team who has nothing and no one on their roster go toe to toe with both Sweden and Canada for three periods each over the last week, doing a better job than the US did against Canada, for sure- defense is the great equalizer.
The coach problem would be easy to fix, except for one thing- Charles Wang. There's a simple policy on Long Island, which is that as long as everyone kisses the royal behind, everyone gets to keep his job forever, even if he is incompetent and worthless. If anyone who had ever watched hockey for five minutes bought the Islanders in 2000, Milbury would have been cleaning out his desk before the ink on the paperwork was dry. Wang kept him for six more disastrous years, and now he's doing the same thing with these guys- they both need to go, but the most pressing need is the coach, because the style of hockey they play is a disaster. The little kids who play between the periods are more organized and better at keeping the puck out of their own net than the Islanders are, and that has to end. No amount of personnel is going to fix that unless the coach goes along with the rest of the crap.

yeah, don't think the Sens are going after rental players, especially after giving up futures for Ryan last summer. they're not a good team and no rental on the market will change that fact. they're much better off hanging onto their future assets and continuing to build. |

2 straight playoff appearances, and a dominance of montreal last year.........i tend to agree with you.
however, i do agree with him in that it would be stupid to trade futures for a rental.
i'm hoping instead of meaning "not a good team", he meant "not a contending team". |

Yep agreed ,our defense is probably one of the youngest and least experienced in the NHL ,and the bumps have been plentiful .But they will get better for it ,and we should see an uptick soon |

according to ek, kane is rumored to go to every nhl team at some point this year...its ridiculous
don't you realize that the things you post about the islanders NEVER make any sense whatsoever? and NEVER come to fruition? |

I don't see how the Isles would have the pieces to make a trade for Kane.... - Myron1982
They certainly have the pieces to acquire Kane. It's the matter of what Winnipeg wants. |

I just dont see wpg moving him ,they arent exactly flush with high scoring forwards. To move him creates even more of a hole for them |

I have to say as a Buffalo fan I want to see NY fail next year if they defer the 1st to next year and if they give us this years 1st it affords Buffalo to take Ekblad 1st and still get a top 5 forward. - Leninthebuff
What!?
Another Defensive prospect... we are on pace to be the lowest scoring team in NHL HISTORY.. we take Reinhart and dal Colle or Draistl and RUN!!!

Not when you have our circumstances..
We already have Myers, Risto, Zadorov, McCabe, Pysyk, Ruhwedel, and McNabb in our pipeline all under the age of 23.
not to mention Ehrhoff signed long term.
I do bet one of those last three gets dealt with a rental player though. |

I just see Pitt getting E. Kane.. my mind will not let me think otherwise for some reason...
Just like how I see Moulson to LA... and Vanek to Det..
Ott to Chicago also seems to sit well. |
