I love the best players playing for their country in the Olympics.
That said I can't wait to see the Flyers again.

The Simmonds for Callahan rumor is really hilarious. Thanks for the laughs.

Carey Price was quietly amazing for Canada. He deserves a lot of praise.
And also there was a ton of criticism for the make up of team Canada.
I guess those guys picking the team knew what they were doing after all.

In fairness to the ranger blogger,he clarified his statement saying it was unlikely to happen and was responding to Boomers claim that the trade would be " shocking"

I agree. This teams playoff hopes depended on our best but aging defensman. If he cared one iota for the Flyers, he would have skipped the olympics and rested his battered body for one final playoff run. I guess he knows what we all know that the Flyers have no chance this year so he thought of himself instead of his teammates.
- Daveflyers36

I guess you've never seen timmo play in a flyers jsy if you think he doesn't care. He continously plays through injuries that would sit down most athletes.

You really think he would have gotten the money he got from the Flyers elsewhere? Everyone knows the Flyers overpay for aging past their prime defenseman.

The stars gave gonchar close to the same contract and he's older and less effective.

Agreed. That theory is preposterous. Further, they were that spent by the Olympics, don't you think that would have shown up all of the prior playoff games in May and June? Against NJ? Against Boston? mtl?
- FlyersFirst

Yea it is preposterous. A couple of defenseman in their middle 30's playing in well over 100 hockey games and running out of gas.

Kimmo should play for 8.75 an hour and like it. The bastard.

yes, it is not something even worth mentioning as a possibility

to give up a valuable player who is signed to a nice deal and is a real emotional leader for the Flyers for a guy who is an UFA looking to cash in on a long term deal and has injury issues... beyond shocking

I love Callahan and hope he leaves the NYRs. But what he is looking for on his next deal... the Flyers should stay far away

Ryan Callahan 28 years old. 5'10
GP: 447
G:132
A:121
P: 253

Playoffs:
GP: 59
G: 14
A: 10
P: 24

Wayne Simmonds, 25 years old. 6'2
GP: 426
G: 100
A: 116
P: 216

Playoffs:
GP: 23
G: 4
A: 8
P: 12

I'll take the bigger, younger version of Callahan already signed to a long term deal with a cap hit under 4 million.

Not even a discussion

People are jumping all over this Callahan for Simmonds "rumor". The rangers blogger clearly stated it was unlikely and only mentioned as a POSSIBLE meaning to Boomers description of impending rangers deal as a trade that would " shock" people.

On a completely unrelated note:

I just finished my apply for a US tourist VISA - and I was deemed worthy.

How strict is border control at airports? I'd hate having to go into a booth, pull down my pants and then be like , then , then only to be left .

I've thought since Seidenberg went down that if the Flyers were out of a spot by the TDL, that Kimmo would be a target of Boston. If we're out of it, I really hope he is traded to a contender, he would be the only player I would root for to win with another team.

the lines for getting through customs are typically really long

as a US citizen I can't say how tough it is for other nationalities getting through

I guess if your visa is in order shouldn't be a problem

What is surprising to me is that an ex NFL quarterback has inside info for the NYRs

Yeah, so I've heard. There were som rumors about machines doing the check-in job, but I don't know if they are operative yet.

Looking forward to seeing my first dosage of NHL hockey.

Boston would have to create some cap space to add Timonen, or add a player from their roster going the other way. And with the deadline so close, I don't see the Flyers being out of it.

There are only 3 games for the Flyers between now and the deadline. It would be impossible for them to fall out of the race. They are in a position to add an inexpensive depth forward or trade an asset if theyre blown away. Other than that, I see them standing pat.

The blogger was trolling for hits. He was trying to "connect the dots" from what Boomer Esiason was saying. The blog was terrible. He mentioned possible candidates being Simmonds, Pacioretty, Ryan, Milan Michalek or St. Louis.

The Rangers wont get much of anything for Callahan. Maybe a couple of 2nds.

Bout as much of a chance that Homer swaps Simmonds for Callahan as there is that Poile sends us Weber for Mez and Downie!

they could have sent a B team and probably won, with the Finns and Swedes both missing their top 2-3 centers
