I have a feeling it's either Toronto or Detroit.

I wonder if the minute Cally touches down tomorrow morning the Rangers present Cally with a take it or leave it offer. Maybe go up slightly in the offer and say if you don't take it, this is where you are going? In other words, how badly do you want to stay? It's poop or get off the pot time. I think it's important for the Rangers to basically get the peace of mind and answers as they head into this stretch drive.

Not a chance. I feel confident the rangers will resign girardi. Kadri has been frustrating for you guys with his on and off play, Gardiner is another MDZ for us and Kulemin is an UFA . . . U don't trade your captain and top 2 defenseman for scraps like that
- nyrangers9479

True, no way I trade for any of these leafs,

Then it's not St. Louis. It could be Ott, but that will not sit well with most Ranger fans.
- OLDSCHOOL#6

It can't be Ott because he also said the player would immediately go on our top line.

No. Calahan dose not make to much sense in TOR. I would keep Kadri any day over Calahan. Gardiner could be so good so trading him for a UFA is not to smart...I'll trade for Girardi so he can play with Gardiner and help him develop into being a top D...And Kulemin...I believe he would be good for the Rangers but in a different package.

Is this guy for real or is he just trolling ?

Some of these players are ridiculous. The Flyers wouldn't trade Simmonds to the Rangers for Callahan and a 1st round pick let alone Callahan alone.

Why do the Rangers think they can get huge value for him? No team is going to trade a top six forward for a worse top 6 forward who is due to cash in on a huge deal.

I am completely prepared to move on if the Rangers trade him. I'm not prepared to lose Girardi however and trading Callahan in exchange for a good player and a modest cap charge if it means re-signing Dan G then let's go and make a run at the cup. Girardi as the next captain makes sense. I'd be content with that.

I agree. Just the thought of these two teams as trading partners doesn't make sense.

Im not totally against trading with rivals. I just think some of the names mentioned are unreasonable. The Rangers will only get back one of the following:

1. A prospect or pick.
2. A different type of player than Callahan who is equally as good, but has an expiring contract.
3. A player signed for multiple seasons, but worse than Callahan.

If the Rangers want more than that, they will need to include more in the trade than just Callahan.

If Callahan is such a bad top 6, why is he due to cash in?

I dont think ottawa is the team ,Callahan would be a great add.But iam sure the Rangers would want a pretty penny for him ,and other than prospects we have no one really off the roster we could afford,or they would want back in trade

Almost every player you listed is way (frank)ing better than Ryan Callahan, so I'm not sure where you're getting these wild ideas.

Im not saying he's bad. I'm saying its ridiculous to expect so much for him. Mentioning guys like Simmonds, Pacioretty, St. Louis?

I like Matt Read a lot, but I'm not proposing the idea of trading Read for Stepan.

I dont know ,if ottawa would even be in the running for him .We need another goalscorer tbh ,or a vet defenseman far before we need a gritty two way forward

Boomer did also say this morning that the player was playing in Sochi...so that should narrow down speculation if the rumor is true.

I think its your other thought Pete. I got a strong feeling it is Brad Marchand. And its not for Cally, but could be for Girardi instead.
- TPC

There is absolutely zero percent chance Boston trade Marchand for a rental. Don't be dumb. They might not even trade Marchand for a signed Girardi.

Well there you go but I have a hard time thinking its Callahan for some if the names being mentioned with the exception of St. Louis. I think it does make sense bc it makes sense for both sides. I think Marty has a lot of ties in the area besides BR he is a winner he slots right onto Richards flank and gives them a boost on the 2nd PP unit.

You think Tampa is going trade St Louis for a half year of Callahan and chance to sign him way above his true value? Hahaha

I agree with the first. Not so much the 2nd, the Bruin would have to include something else to get a signed Girardi in addition to Marchand.

What about Kadri, Gardiner, Kulemin for Calahan and Girardi?

Don't shoot me for a suggestion. I just think it evens out where Toronto gets some strong vets and nyr gets younger and it's not like either Kadri or Gardiner will ask for crazy money. Just an idea folks!

- GOLEAFS71

That would be the absolute worst possible deal in hockey history. Especially with both players still going UFA.

Well that's a matter of opinion. Marchand is a better hockey player than Girardi but maybe a team like the Bruins value that stay at home defenseman more. Probably not though.
