Yeah, I also heard that Boomer in taking questions, says the returning player would immediately go on the Rangers top line. If he did say that, that's obviously not Neil. I'm really at a loss on that one. Did the Jackets give Horton a no trade? He might make some sense.

oh wow, you think the jackets reneg a long term deal after only one month of him playing?

and they have played well since he joined them

Horton wanted to play in a smaller market. He has to have some type of a no trade clause in his long term deal.

If the player is ok with going. The deal would make sense financially for both clubs, and the Jackets can put together a few guys that have played great hockey with one another. Yes, i could see it happening.

Hard to find many guys in the East that fit all those criteria. I'm real curious to see this one play out, and to see if Boomer really does become a true insider.

He has a NMC that runs until 16-17 season than a NTC for remainder of contract

Not specifically but he had the lockout ending and called the Kevin Klein deal. Plus, he has been a. Long time Rangers fan and in tight with many inside the Garden

Rumors earlier in the year he was on the block, would satisfy requirement that he be a top forward and angered Rangers fanbase with the check he had I believe on McDonagh last year

Reading a lot of proposals here and I'm seeing returns in Callahan trade anywhere from an equal or better roster player with youth and contract term (Wayne Simmonds, Pacioretti) to aging but serviceable players and a 1st round pick (Chris Neil).

Don't you think a return for Callahan would be closer to what Pittisburgh paid for Morrow and Iginla?

Tough to hit a home run in a trade when the currency your dealing will be a UFA in a few months.

well interesting info. would be somewhat interested in Stewart but would be curious what the price is.

but as for you guys... if it is a team in the east...

Detroit
Toronto
Montreal
Boston
Ottawa
Tampa Bay
Florida
Buffalo
NY Islanders
Pittsburgh
Philadelphia

Columbus
New Jersey
Washington
Carolina

teams in bold are teams that I don't think would be interested in Cally based on their position in the standings or based on the fact that they cant afford or are interested in paying the price for him.

so that leaves 10 teams, I don't think Boston will be too involved, not sure Washington has the assets to get a deal done, same with Detroit.

I think you could actually leave Philly and Jersey off of the list you put in bold. They could both make it happen.

Homer would be nuts to give up Simmonds, but hey, if the shoe fits. I doubt he'd pull that trigger, though. I know its all speculation, but he's definitely a piece the Rangers would love to have.

Murray sent out a signal a month ago that Ottawa was prepared to do a deal with a team that needed to make salary cap moves. But he talked about moving young players and prospects. Not sure any move by Rangers makes sense if it brings back a top salary. So, a deal with Ottawa might be possible for Neil. A better Ranger pick up would be Zack Smith and a top prospect.

So, the literal interpretation of Boomer's words may be important. It will be a deal that is first hated by some Ranger fans.

But, if Callahan was traded the team that would probably want him the most is Buffalo. He is close to being a home town boy. And, Buffalo has some brilliant young Dmen and a few vets (Ott, Moulsen, Stafford).

I think it is crazy to trade Callahan. Makes a lot more sense to buy out Richards at the end of the season or trade Nash.

What about Kadri, Gardiner, Kulemin for Calahan and Girardi?

Don't shoot me for a suggestion. I just think it evens out where Toronto gets some strong vets and nyr gets younger and it's not like either Kadri or Gardiner will ask for crazy money. Just an idea folks!

Not a chance. I feel confident the rangers will resign girardi. Kadri has been frustrating for you guys with his on and off play, Gardiner is another MDZ for us and Kulemin is an UFA . . . U don't trade your captain and top 2 defenseman for scraps like that

Wouldn't be the first time Montreal overpaid for one of our aging veterans.

I know, Bob Gainey isn't there anymore.

Lol. Sorry man, it's something that comes up about once a week. After the Messier trade it might be the single best trade the Rangers ever made.

As for the trade, i really don't know what the rangers are looking for and if the habs would be able to pay what it would cost.

One thing is clear tough, i don't see Callahan coming here with Gionta and Brière already in the lineup.

If somehow Ottawa can trade Neil + for Cally that would be awesome. I don't think the + would be a first though. We don't have one this summer (traded to Anaheim) and we won't be dealing next summers.

I'd say something like Neil + Pumpel for Callahan.

Ottawa isn't trading Ryan and certainly not for Callahan. Ottawa is really high on Ryan and the only player Ottawa would trade him for on the NYR is McDonagh and I don't think that's happening!
