if we're gonna move cally for a rental, i'd rather just keep him. i'm on board with moving cally for young assets that will be around for a while. not a 40+ year old rental. keep cally of alfie every day of the week.
- rangerdanger94

While I agree, he makes more sense from the other teams standpoint than St. Louis. He has led the league in scoring since the lockout you would have to imagine A. They want to keep him for the playoffs or B. If he were available he would get an absolute haul of a return

Why is everyone convinced it will be rental for rental? What sense does that make? You don't trade your captain for some other guy that's going to walk at the end of the year.

I'm not sure why you think Alfie would be a downgrade at all from Callahan. The guy is still very good and a shoe in hall of Famer
- sbroads24

That's not what I was implying, why would you trade your Captain who actually is wanted by many teams for a pending retiree?

You ain't top cheese for nothin, exactly, I don't think Alfie is even in question, but maybe a Nyquist or Tatar, personally if he's going to get traded I'd like to get bigger and stronger rather than lateral in size

You seriously expect me to dislike a guy who has been a class act his whole career, because one time he shot a puck at Niedermeyer? Who gives a rat's ass. Mark Messier almost killed Mike Modano. Literally, almost killed him. You play long enough, everyone does something dirty at some point.

didn't alfredsson say in a postgame interview after a playoff loss last season that the senators are done and have zero chance of winning another game and that they should basically forfeit the series? great captain and leader right there for a young team.

Pretty much ,alfie made one dumb move in the heat of battle in a cup final.Doesnt wash away the years of being a all around class act

Tatar was on the list. Played in Sochi. Forward from the Eastern Conference. Not in the list of excluded teams. And, only under contract through this year (although he is an RFA). Huge respect and immediate first liner (those are questionable).

i don't remember the exact quote and maybe it was reported out of context, but it sure seemed like a terrible thing for the captain to say.

I'm going to make my pick based on the clues provided by Boomer, and process of elimination. It's Ruutu.

The Sabres would have to be confident Callahan would sign a long term deal here or else were just throwing away Moulson (who will most likely fetch a first rounder) for nothing.

I wrote that before I read the latest update on the "clues" that Esiason revealed.

Based on the latest, I just read, I am going with a Wings trade too.
