very little quick could have done there, but i've always been critical of how far he challenges. it costs him over and over and over. he's go to read that play better and be deeper in his net for the cross ice one timer.

I remember that being the case on Simmonds goal against him when the Flyers played in LA.

I think he trusts his athleticism so much and feels he can get over fast enough.

Just about all of these chances are unstoppable though.

No point in comparing the two. Its over. We have Laughton. They have Maata. I still think Laughton will be a good player. I would, obviously, rather have Maata, but don't hold it against Laughton.
- PhillySportsGuy

I don't. Laughton will be a solid player I believe. The area of need was defense, not another center. The pick made little sense imo.

He has to have something as a platform to complain about or he's not a happy camper.

2018, if we go, could be even worse -- this was Team USA's year to medal, in many ways.

But in 2018, Canada, if healthy, could hit you with their Top 4 centers as in-their-primes Steven Stamkos and John Tavares on their Top 2 scoring lines, a slightly-aging Sidney Crosby as their No. 3, and Jonathan Toews anchoring a shutdown fourth-line.

Four years is a ways away, but right now...let's just say that we won't be starting there.

You know, I would be pretty content with Anaheim taking the cup this year. Would be nice for Teemu to get it in his last year.

If that happens who would have thought Sbisa, the guy we had playing 4th line wing at times, would win the cup before this organization did.

Would love to get our hands on Leo Komarov. He is a great defensive player.

Don't say that, we can just flip Wheels or Laughton for that 25 minute d-man any time we want.

why we need defense and we're stacked at center
- 2Real

I just don't see the point in rehashing this. There were several other teams who skipped over Maata and will regret it. Flyers are one of many.

I have noticed him a lot too. He was quoted as saying he wants to return to the NHL. Don't know if he would look at anyone other than Toronto, but I would rather him on the team instead of Downie or Rinaldo.

Even the best scouts make mistakes. The Flyers have done well in the first round for the most part. Im sure the teams picking just in front of the Flyers when they drafted Giroux are kicking themselves as well.

The finns to me, really are a joy to watch. Strong goaltending, class and all heart. May not be the biggest team, but they work hard every shift.

I have a feeling we won't see NHLers in the olympics anymore.

Good for Finland.

USA Hockey needs help, I blame ESPN.

Exactly. He would be ideal on the 4th line. Imagine him with Raffl on the 4th line...and of course Rosehill. But still I would love to get him. He will probably go to Toronto

That certainly could be the case. But I'm not exactly wanting to get drilled in World Cups, either, and those are coming.

Its a shame they didn't have Barkov and the Koivus. They could have really made a run at the gold with a full lineup.
