It would have been nice for Garth to go off a little though after the Vanek goal was taken away. I'm more looking for him to not let the season fall apart in Nov or bring in guys like Regin or PMB. - ses111
It would have been nice to see Snow go off on this team and coaching staff in November when they went 0-for-the month and let the season slip away. Again. But he'd rather whine about a governingbody overseas than the POS team he put together. |

I think the thought there was whether the higher pick in a weak draft is better than a lower pick in a stacked draft. I think it could be a tough decision depending how high the pick is this year.
Snow will need to take a good hard look at where the pick will be this year, who he thinks might be available at that pick, and whether he wants to take the risk deferring it to next year. If the Isles have a good season next year (which seems more likely given some of the young talent there) and he defers, he'll look really smart. If not, it might cost him.
How much cap room are you guys looking at for next year? If you're going to hit the FA market heavy it might make sense to give this year's pick up. - Zeebadaboodee
Rest assured, with Snow running things the Sabres are guaranteed a great pick, either this summer or next. |

Amen! Going after his own team would take guts. It's easier to go after some overseas governing body. Garth is really brave. |

I dont know how many of you guys are yanks fans, but the more time passes with Snow amd Wang at the helm, the more I realize how great it was to have George Steinbrenner as The Boss. Forget about the spending. Steinbrenner would never accept this level of mediocrity and losing. He gave a s*it about winning. That was all that mattered. These two show more emotion over the IOC not paying money to season ticket holders for JT's injury than they do over losing every year. |

Staple-
#Isles GM Garth Snow spitting mad over Tavares' Olympic injury: "Are the IIHF or IOC going to reimburse our season ticket holders now?"
More Snow: "It's a joke. They want all the benefits from NHL players in Olympics and don't want to pay when our best player gets hurt."
Snow: "It wouldn't matter if we were 10 points up on a playoff spot or 10 points out. We lost our best player and he wasn't playing for us." - NYI44
So I'm just checking on the Islanders policy with Season Ticket Holders.
Snow thinks that because Tavares was injured while playing at the Olympics, while under the "watch" of the IOC / IIHF, that the IOC / IIHF should reimburse their season ticket holders.
So if Tavares had been injured in an Islanders game, while under the "watch" of the NHL and the New York Islanders, that Charles Wang would now be signing cheques to reimburse his season ticket holders?
Of course he wouldn't. They would be saying how while unfortunate, this injury is part of the game.
What a joke of a statement and a GM. |

Ok jackass. What if management felt we could be a much stronger team next yr. Traded or signed a decent goalie and a couple top 4's instantly making us a strong team which is all it would take maybe less with the addition on one of our excellent defensive prospects and we had a shot at second or third overall in this yrs draft? Possible. You'd trade that when theres a chance you might be picking 15th in a stronger draft whether it's strong or not? Top 3 in any draft is better than the crap shoot you get in the 15 range. I'm no fan of Snow in fact I don't like the guy but it isn't going to take much to right the ship. Besides the fact it couldn't have been more evident after reading your post that you didn't have a facking clue what you were talking about.
Also, I'd be more worried about your team being a giant pile of shat for some time. Keep fooling yourself thinking it's going to be a two yr rebuild. Go back to your thread and stop trolling when you're a fan of a team that will be perpetually batting for first overall for a while. - Cptmjl
Seems like the Isles have been "righting the ship" for like 20 years now !!
I hope they do defer, because they are going to suck again next year.

While I'm not a Yankee fan, I always loved the passion George Steinbrenner had. He cared about winning before anything else. If Charles and Garth cared anout winning and did what it took to win, the statement would be fine. Now they look like empty suits. |

Yeah, it's unfortunate for you guys. We're watching it in Buffalo too. As a Sabres fan, I was really happy with the Vanek/Moulson trade and that usually comes at the expense of another team (re: Philly fans chuckling about our great Leino signing).
Let's hope both squads do well soon. |

if we were going to address our weaknesses in FA this summer it would make more sense to keep this year's pick as it'll be a top 3 pick. |

There is just something about the majority of New York sports owners and the bad karma their teams seem to have.
Dolan, the Wilpons, Woody Johnson...and Wang is right there. Sad this guy is allowed to own your franchise. Must be hard to have any faith in your team. As much as you have great young talent, rebuilding gets old after a while.
I believe Dolan is a disgusting, evil egomaniac...and as long as he owns the Rangers and Knicks, I am positive neither team will have any true success. Always waiting for another major injury, bad call...another draft bust...
Best of luck with JT- very upsetting to see a young superstar go down like that.

It's the cap on a season where our GM let the team down, the coach failed in a big way and our owner doesn't see its time for changes. The whole year has been more disappointing than any I remember. Everything they could have done to build on last year and they did absolutely the opposite. |

Not to start picking on your club, (I realize I live in a glass house), but your coach does seem to give a lot of excuses after losses. I would almost go out of my way to hear his post game comments. Even after games where much of the team failed to show up he would stutter away with terms like "we really competed," "I thought we played very well for the most part," or "we deserved the W..." Very weak.
Just fire his ass. He clearly isn't the right coach for this club. Too much talent to be where they are in the standings...
But again the real blame is on Snow and to a greater extent "Wang the Wonderful." |

You guys want to trade snow for k-lowe? In all seriousness though if this would have happened at the World Cup (if they had one this year) it would be in September and you have lost him for the year. At least he should be healthy for the start of the year and it was already a lost season for you guys. Anyways this draft don't take Ekblad we need him more thanks. |

Honestly if Buffalo ends up having the 1st over-all pick, they should take Ekblad.
Just think of the D future of Ekblad, Risto, Zadarov to go along with Myers & Erhoff. That would be some shut down D.
Just not enamored about the F's in this years draft and shoot for a better F in the draft the following year. |
