Yeah, he would- I'd take pretty much any good defenseman, and I hope Reinhart will be all he's advertised to be- but Poulin would still have us in last place. Lundqvist, on the other hand, gives them 30 solid points they probably wouldn't have every year....that is the concept that escapes them, and causes them to live in fantasy land about their "great" team. Just no clue, at all.

We need two those kids to be studs. It's a lot to hope for IMO but without that this team is going no where in a year where losing the first pick(next yrs if that's what happens?)will be extra painful if we don't compete. Doom and gloom thought is losing mcdavid

Saw Tavares hug Crosby down on the ice after they won.. almost puked.
But Tavares was on the ice under his own power, which is really good news.

Also, in Staples lastest article he hinted at PK Subban as a possible RFA that a team cant hold onto that the Isles may be interested in. The last time Staples hinted at a trade target was... yes Vanek.
Not getting my hopes up, but that is certainly interesting.

MTL would get back a ton if PK Subban was traded, would love the addition and would almost trade anyone on roster except JT, Nelson, Hammer. I would include any #1 pick except for 2015...

Would be ironic if Amac gets dealt to BOS for M. Subban +
then we trade for PK in off-season .....

OK I'm pipe dreaming.....

Here are four in his way, right off the top of my head...Keith-Weber-Doughty-Pietrangelo. Give us those four instead of Carkner-Strait-Hickey-MacDonald, and we compete for the trophy, even with the rest of the players we already have....and those are just the DEFENSEMEN. Those aren't the 10 all-star forwards WITHOUT Stamkos and Tavares, and the two solid goalies. That team would really have had to sh*t the bed hard to not win this tournament- they'd probably have had to forget to come home from the bar, and then got lost on the way to the rink in the morning.

Right now in order my opinion top 10 defenders

Weber
Keith
Suter
OEL
Karlsson
Doughty
Subban
Petriangelo (spelling?)
Kronwall
Chara

I don't think Keith is considered a shut down D, he's more offensive and that Seabrook is the shut down partner, but I understand your point.
1 guy that's rising into top 4 consideration is OEL from Coyotes.... kids a stud

I don't think Keith & Karlsson are shut-down, more of offensive threats, but that's just my opinion. Plus Subban is learning to become more defensive in his game but not quite there yet...
Seabrook, Hamhuis are really good defensively

Theres no use this is a guy who thinks Hagelin is one of the best players in the league. He said outside of JT and Nielson we have no one. I have to disagree, Nelson Cizikas Martin Strome Grabs KO and Cal are all solid NHLer and Strome ane Nelson have potential to be all stars. KO already is.
- mighty13duck

You have to be in the NHL before you can be considered a solid NHLer.

Hagelin has more goals and points than anyone you listed above, except for KO, and has done it in fewer games than anyone above, except for the guy who is not in the NHL. I guess that makes him a solid NHLer, doesn't it?

No one said he wasn't a solid NHL player, we are contesting the idiocy that he is one of the best player in the league.

No one compared Hagnelain to Nelson, Cizikas, Martin, Strome, KO, or Cal.. those players were mentioned in retort to one of your mentally challenged blog brothers that said the Isles had no NHL players after JT & Nielson... hope that brings you up to speed.

They showed him in a sky box during the game and I got sick to my stomach.

Feel for the guy. Can't imagine how hard it was for him not to play in the last couple games?

These people still don't understand what absolute sh*t their team would be without that goalie. They have no idea. This is why I don't take anything they say about hockey seriously. Give them any other goalie in the league, save the handful you've seen perform in Sochi, and they'd be lucky to be a .500 hockey club- they'd be lucky to be as good as us. Just no clue, at all. None...

The Rangers backup goalie is 10 and 5 and has the 5th best GAA (1.79)and save percentage (.935) in the NHL. Those numbers are all better than Hank's.

I am not saying that he is better than Hank is.

I am saying that the Rangers defensive corps is pretty darn good and their forwards are two way players.

Yes, two way players: Defense and offense. They have scored but 9 fewer goals in one less game than the Islanders, who you tout as having an amazing offense.

I am also saying that, at times, your hatred of the Rangers clouds your judgement a wee bit.

Sure, the Rangers would not be the same team without Lundqvist but no team would be the same team if they did not have their star player.

I await your personal attack with the resultant insults and name calling.

But remember, everything I wrote above is true.....

Agreed. Watching him on the ice after the game it seemed like he felt he didn't belong there. You could tell he really wasn't happy.

I was shocked Staple actually wrote "it's time for Snow and his staff to have a banner offseason". He also wrote "With the Brooklyn move looming and what's certain to be dissatisfaction from owner Charles Wang, who said this past September that last season's playoff run was "a year behind schedule," the Islanders need to right the ship".

Asking.... If the Isles had any resemblance of the Rags defense, and I'm not including Hank, would you think the Isles would have a better record? If yes, would u think that they would have a better record than Rags?

It really all breaks down to Rags have better players on D & G than Isles...

It would be sweet to get both. I think Bos would move Subban since they have Rask, just not sure they would for Amac? I have to think we will get more than PMB and Regin type of players this offseason. Pretty crazy not to want a strong season the year before Brooklyn.

"And it's up to Jack Capuano -- who enjoys coaching and teaching younger players as much as any coach in the league"

I never realized that every coach in the league hates young players.
