Good read on tanking

I would be shocked if the Flames who are already behind the 8-ball, aren't the first team back to respectability and contention.

Burke gets it. I don't think the Sabres and Oilers do, but don't worry. Their fans will be out in full force preaching to the masses, and anyone else who will listen, that every fan base in the NHL should not only be envious, but cautious as well, because they'll be world beaters any day now.

Good read!

Lets revisit this in a couple years. This guy doesn't have a crystal ball. And Burke is an arrogant wiener. Toronto is still a terrible team. They are lucky they play in the East and get good bounces. They stink. Flames fans think everything is going according to plan. Well looks can be deceiving. You wont know for a few years. And at that point we could be looking back laughing at you guys for being so cocky.

Ha ha! I'd laugh if Garth is unable to move Vanek or get more than a 1st round pick for him. I still believe the move to trade for him was a badly calculated high risk/high reward decision.

As far as Minnesotas "interest". At this point I still can't see Fletcher giving up anything valuable enough to get Vanek this season if in fact he truly wants to come to Minnesota as a UFA.

Not to mention the many Cap obstacles in the way of a move to get him here this season.

With Tavares done for the year you have to think the Isles will be trying to move Vanek much more than before.

I thought the same thing.. but I did assume correctly that both teams are like watching the AHL on an off night. Some of those passes and miscues and mistakes.. my god.
- YzermanIsTheMan

It is not NHL caliber play obviously but it is pretty easy for all of us sitting on a computer watching the game to criticize. These are world class athletes, the best in the world at their respective sport going head to head, i am not sure our problems with their mistakes and miscues holds much weight.

Couldn't agree more! I stopped at high school level hockey because of knee problems. These women would skate circles around me today. But, this is the internet.. a hockey blog and comments section on the internet to boot. What else are we supposed to do?

Goes by # of golds, if tied (if Canada wins CAN and USA both have 7) goes to # of silvers, CAN has 7 and USA has 4 if I'm not mistaken.

EDIT: Someone beat me to it and the delete post button doesn't work. Not sure why it's there, really.

The US has 8 golds, if I'm not mistaken and about to add another one from the Women's Hockey

All boards are generally bad when you have 132,000 wanna be GM's who either 1. dont understand what a salary cap is 2. Think their 4th round pick from 5 years ago is the next Crosby or 3. Think all NHL trades should work like a video game, ie ill give you these 5 mediocre players and a number 1 in 2042 for Crosby Malkin Neal Letang....what thats an even trade!

lol, I love reading the stupidity in these offers. The sickening part, is that some of these quacks are serious. "We'll give you washed up player and a pick for your super star, but retain half his salary."

Wow. A Torontoesque type melt down for the USA women. Dominate for 56 minutes, miss an open net by literally 2 inches and allow two goals in less than 3 1/2 minutes and almost end up losing in regulation.

I'll be amazed if the US can maintain their composure after seeing what looked to be a sure win slip away with less than a minute left.
