I think this has the potential to be a major blowout. I hate to say it but I'm looking at a 5-1 US win. Vegas Baby.

Not a chance.

I just have a really hard time believing that Canada is going to continue to play out of sync the entire tournament, and with 50 something shots on goal today, it's not like they weren't playing well.

Why do I think they'll wake up against USA on Friday? Because of course that's what's going to happen. Canada will come out flying on Friday, it's going to be a hard game, and I would not be shocked at all to see them win. USA has had a harder route, but on paper there's so much talent up and down Canada's roster, they're going to be difficult.

Adrian Dater (the Avs beat writer) retweeted this chick from Calgary who's a huge Team Canada fan:

Maria Camacho ‏@Mariia19 32m

Canada winning thanks to a duchene game winner, just to see what @adater will do

She also has a maple leaf tramp stamp and large melons.

I think I'm in love.

Though she's a Red Wings fan for some reason.

People are driving me crazy talking about the Americans being the favorites. Canada has been nearly perfect, except they haven't buried their chances. We all know this can't go on forever.

Of course the Americans are going to fire a few more shots than Finland and Latvia, but when its all said and done, Jonathan Quick better be prepared for the busiest game of his life because he's about to face the firing squad.

Im not the c0cky Canadian that says USA has no chance in hell. But its going to take the best performance of Jonathan Quick's life... or a breakdown by Carey Price.

Talented players like these guys don't get shut down forever. I predict a 5-1 victory, as it should be.

Well its only common sense. There are 16 Canadians in the top 30 NHL scorers. There are 3 Americans.

Im not saying that Canada can't lose. You have to know they are going to break out soon. They are dominating but the pucks aren't going in. Im sure 12 guys didn't just lose their skills overnight, and its not like some supernatural force is throwing all their pucks at the goaltender. The goalies are playing hot against Canada right now, and Quick will have to do the same if the USA wants to win. Plain and simple.

You mean that wasn't totally serious? Good to know, because I was just putting on my size 50 waste sweat pants, and making my way down to my gun closet to deal with the blogger's disrespect.

Maybe I need to lighten up a little.

It is safe to say that Canada has struggled putting the puck in the net. Especially given the amount of talent they have at forward. Too many players trying to make plays behind the net doesn't leave many out front to finish the play. Once they can figure out the lines they'll go with (soon, I hope), they should be able work they systems to have a shooter or shooters in place.

All that said, the US hasn't seen a defense close to what Canada has. They have been clicking offensively playing against relatively poor defensive teams. It will definitely be a test for Canada, though, since the US seems to be flying and playing with lots of confidence. Canada has dominated its games everywhere but on the scoreboard. A bit more confidence from the forwards and a few lucky bounces and that will change.

Neither team has seen a really good match up yet, so it should be a hell of a game.
