Again Carlyle's simplified system of success.. forget everything else
Win = competed hard
Lose = didnt compete hard enough - senstroll
Nonis' and Leiweke's comments seem to have got them going again. I'm starting to wonder that those guys know what the (frank) they are talking about. |

Not here to defend Carlyle but you can't always blame the coach for every loss and every flat effort. Its fools gold to absolve the players from responsibilty in all this. That said, if you compete harder than the other team you'll often win more games than you lose, but since goalies are part of the game they too can influence the outcome of games regardless of how hard the players in front him compete. Much like a solid team effort can go for naught when a goalie poops the bed. Coaches can only influence the outcome of games so much, and it's not like Carlyle is failing to get the best our of Chara, Weber, Doughty, Crosby, Toews etc.
Im just not sure you can say "Well, Carlyles system failed...that's why they lost the majority of races and battles for the puck."
The blame should be spread between players and coaches when a team loses as should the success when the team wins. |

you know i am not even really talking about winning or losing. the original comment was about getting back to coaching "competing"
Mark Masters @markhmasters 16s
Carlyle identified 3 key areas to work on before season resumes: compete level, d-zone coverage & special teams
the leafs are winning right now...winning a lot actually.
To me its the way the team goes about its business winning or losing..i just dont think Carlyle is the kind of coach for todays players. I think the leafs could be a better team than they are now.
oh and Orr/FML on the 4th line enough of that already |
