Yeah...thats why I think Canada will fair better against the US...as they will both play a skilled game. Another "play the body on every shift" team may not have ended well for the good guys. - Colin Dambrauskas
They out shot them 62 - 14. I think they had the game under control. |

because they all know english.
other cultures tend to know more than one language.. this one language only thing is very north american..
and english is the second most popular language in the world... by far the most widely known.. only mandarin is used more and it is very localized.
why i know this? couldnt tell you. lol - Dozzer
Pft, I speak three languages. English, French, and Drunk. |

Yes, goaltending stole the show..but the team shut them down very well defensively for the most part and made it tough for them to get more chances than they did. Shots were real high for Canada, but a lot of them were from a decent distance or more or less thrown on net. They knew the goalie was inexperienced and tried getting a few softies it seemed. |

my guess is its more violent than any other game in the tourney
or heavily penalized. - Dozzer
I dont think so...these guys all play together. It will be a tough, physical game, but it wont be "violent". Just dont see it. |

Canada had many chances, just didn't pull the trigger. Posts, cross bars and break aways. Just a hot tender. |

Languages by number of native speakers worldwide(millions), and % of world population speaking it...
Mandarin 935 14.1%
Spanish 387 5.85%
English 365 5.52%
Hindi 295 4.46%
So yeah, Mandarin by a landslide. Three times English and Spanish. |

Ya, I don't blame the Latvian player for this. In fairness, Canada would have done well to take some runs at their players and put the 'fear of Canada' in them... - Hockey_Reverend
just a good hit that went wrong.
part of the risk. i mean.. the isles arent in the playoffs and wont be either.. but JT helps their last minute ticket sales I am sure. |

We don't think of Mandarin as a world wide language, because it is typically not spoken near as much, outside the orient. Their are a few billion of them, I assume they win by numbers. But spoken around the world, it is English, Spanish, then French. |

Colin, Type into your searches, Most widely spoken languages. See what you get back.

Right, and China has a very low Linguistic diversity index of .491 meaning their populace primarily speak Mandarin...so going by the numbers, its popular cause theres so many of them
