If it's Wayne's then yes. You could put it in an incubator then 18 years from now the Oilers would finally have that missing piece.

Seriously guys. It's time to do something bold like Burke would do and that means making an unpopular move that usually ends up working.

Mac T's "bold" moves are only seen in his emails to Kevin. I feel sorry for Oiler fans.

And we all feel sorry for Canuck fans....pathetic that you have had to cheer for that crap for so long....and now about to embark on a rebuild without ever having won anything.....

They can't even riot properly; they turn themselves in afterwards.

Yes, believe it or not. The stats don't lie. The player interviews don't lie.

I give up. Go ahead and keep all the young talent thinking you only need defense. You need defense yes. You also need forwards to take the pressure off the kids who are expected to score once playoff time starts.

Should have hired Burke. You would have been a playoff team this year.

- therealagent

Clearly both signs that you are borderline delusional. Possibly due to post concussion syndrome, that may have occurred during the last riot.

Don't feel sorry for us. Our consecutive years of failure isn't quite at Casuck levels yet of 44 or 45.

This is also an interesting, and possible hypothesis and I would like to subscribe to your newsletter sir. The Sedin's were pretty mediocre, until Mats came along with his mom and Chunky soup to help guide the twins to greatness in that half o season.

Yeah it's been brutal. Firing our coach, trading our captain, signing two new key pieces and naming one of them captain, trading picks and prospects for a top 6 winger, and trying to trade a boatload of players, picks and prospects to acquire Schneider and Coburn, and backing up the truck (albeit misguidedly) for David Clarkson, and then making a change essentially every 10 games this season, is so pedestrian and doesn't suggest he's interested in bold moves.

Seriously, count the number of oilers that have been traded or rumoured in trades since MacT took over:
Horcoff - Traded
Paajarvi - Traded
Hemsky - Perpetually rumoured
Gagner - Rumoured before re-signing, again recently
Smid - Traded
Klefbom - Rumoured in both Schneider and Coburn deals
Marincin - Rumoured in Schneider deal
Dubnyk - Traded
Eberle - Rumoured to Philly
Yakupov - Heavily rumoured everywhere
Schultz - Rental
Smyth - Rental
Petry - rumoured to be moved this offseason
our 2014 1st - MacT said he was shopping it
our 2014 2nd - Traded
our 2014 3rd - Traded

I count five full-time oilers from last year who don't fit the description:
Hall, Potter, Jones, Nuge and Justin Schultz.

MacT has been ready to make bold moves, it's just gotta be the right move.

I think keeping Marincin-Petry should be a top priority.

But I'm definitely open to moving Eberle/Yak, J Schultz, Klefbom, Gagner, and really any prospect hopefully not named Nurse if it means a top 2C and/or a top pairing Dman

To add to what I just said, I would gladly pay some combination of:
Klefbom
Nurse
Marincin
In fact pretty much any prospect
Gagner
Hemsky
Eberle/Yakupov
Petry/Schultz
1st round picks until the end of time
2nd round picks until the end of time

to shore up our defense with a bona fide top pairing veteran...

...and I think give or take a few names that's a pretty common sentiment. We're not resistant to trading a big price. We're resistant to trading a big price for older versions of the skillsets we already have and in turn losing our opportunity to pay that big price for veterans we really need.

Veterans yes...but do they need to be superstar veterans? There's some seasoned players between the ages of 28 and 34 that can play in the top 9 that wont cost us any of the kids out there. Those are the guys I would target.

next it'll be my favourite; "you guys aren't gonna get anything of real value unless you give up value"
and then they'll propose we give up a young star for 2 depth guys and a pick

they don't have to give up value. just us

Yeah, this RealAgent is more or less just a RealImbecile for continuing to fight a point that clearly makes zero sense to the short and long term health of our franchise.

Picks can be had cheap, and free agency is always ripe with depth guys. Just for once I would like to an offer for one of the kids that actually includes a player we legitimately covet.

WTF are you talking about?

Pathetic that we had to watch a power house, puck possession, highly skilled team with the ability to play absolute magical, draw dropping hockey for the last 5 years.

Sure we are entering an era of rebuild, who the (frank) hasn't?

Would consider, but contract $ play a huge factor there. I get the impression MacT (ironically) would want salary retained. That's bound to be a huge no-no on the Toronto end.

Yeah, I won't disrespect a team for being solid for 5 years and didn't win it all. At least they went for it. Sometimes I think teams like San Jose and St.Louis (in the 90's) seem satisfied with being good enough to make the playoff's year in and year out and can hopefully win a round.
Team like Dallas and Carolina went all in and were rewarded with both a Stanley Cup and a lengthy drought after, but to me, it is worth it.

Having said that, I do not consider Vancouver a model franchise. That would be Ken Holland's Detroit, and Vancouver is not, was not, and is a long way from being Detroit.
