Mez slashed stick out of players hands with less than a minute left while trailing 4-3.

Since the IIHF site has had the game at 59:00 for the last 10-15 minutes, I'm just assuming that full-scale bench clearing brawl broke out in the last minute of the game. I will be very upset if that's not the case.
- jmatchett383

ESPN had it stuck on 1:00 minute remaining for a while. i had to Gamecast the last 10 minutes of each game. There may have been a review of the goal.

Possibly. But a rock star in Latvia is probably worse than being someone like Joey Chestnut or MC Hammer.

It's up to Jake and Kimmo to carry the mail for the Flyers in Sochi.
- PLindbergh31

And I hope they drop that mail and fly back to Voorhees for practice ASAP.

Slovenia has a little over 2 million people, and the country has 7 hockey rinks.

I wish they had stretched out the season for the 3 weeks that the Olympics eats up. Hard though this is, I find the gap in the summer between seasons harder.

I agree with this. A couple of weeks I can handle - particularly with all the olympic events to watch. The summer months blow... And don't get me started about the lockout - I get so miffed. Particularly when a little forethought and planning could have avoided it. I was/still am disgusted with that whole fiasco.

The part that really bothered me about the lockout was that both sides knew what the end game would be from day 1. A 50/50 split and a few concessions from both sides. But each side felt the need to flex its muscles and dig in, which just created more and more burning animosity for each side.

Just saw the phantoms fight from sunday on bills retweet. Holy poop did Portland get annihilated.

5 suspensions handed out to Adirondack players including 1 game to mcginn.

I wish the Olympics would end so life with the flyers can begin again.

I think the digging in was preordained by the last lockout, though. At least we didn't lose the whole season, for what it's worth. Do you think there's any chance we avoid a lockout next time around?

The Phantoms had 7 players on the ice for much of the fighting. The guy the Phantoms seemed to target was Connor Murphy. He's a defensive prospect for Pheonix I think.

I wish they would re-seed after the first set of games. Why should Canada reap the benefits of getting to play the lower seed?

I just don't understand the point in seeding if the top seeds aren't going to get to play the lesser opponents. It makes no sense.

It seems like its rare in sports when a collective bargaining agreement is reached prior to the cancellation of games or offseason camps and workouts. It just seems like the loss of games is inevitable in any negotiation. Its just sad.

Three straight lockouts... IMO, it's almost all on the owners.

They hold the purse strings, they set the market place, they hire the idiot GMs, and they're the ones who eagerly dump good money after bad while the CBA is in effect, only to cry poor immediately on its expiration.

If I'm a hockey player, and somebody is willing to preemptively give me $51M ahead of a buyers' market at my position, then turn around and dump $23M in my lap just to make me go away, I'm going to take it.

But somebody has to actually be willing to do that, first.

No, because the owners "won" this lockout. So the owners will bring a "We can win if we dig in" mentality and players will feel that they need to "win" the next one.
