i'm not even gonna bother trying, but i'm sure there are worse........for example, calgary.

they are, WITHOUT DOUBT, the worst drafting team in teh last 5 years. the leafs probably have less also, but they also traded away picks for kessel. i think the rangers probably have less...........i'm sure there are more, that's just off the top of my head.

Carl Hagelin, Derek Stepan, Michael Del Zotto and Chris Kreider

Nazem Kadri and Luke Schenn

I mean its pretty close, all i know is there is a huge delusion on the Pens ability to draft. They are one of if not the worst at it over the past 6 years.

dont forget they also traded up in that draft to get A goalie as well
- bschmigel

obviously the pens did more than just draft crosby and malkin.......just like the oilers have made some other solid moves as well.

i think the biggest difference, and the reason why the pens had so much success early, was that the second malkin and crosby stepped foot on NHL ice as 18/19 year olds, they were already among the NHL elite, and able to make their teammates better.

edmonton didn't have any players of that calibre, even though they were still good players. the guys teh oil took need more time to develop. i do think they will be a damn scary team in the near future, similar to the way the pens are right now.

I'm sure if the Pens had 2 top 10 picks they would have played, especially in the last 5 years.

Hey I remember that guy! He came back just in time last year for this...

congrats on the win................it was incredible, you almost never see a 1 seed knock off a 7 seed.

also, although i shouldn't be surpried that you can't count, a sweep is 4 games, not 5.

Jeff Carter blew by him yesterday too.
- sbroads24

The Carter "blow by" was a bit overdone, Carter had a lot of forward momentum and the wider rink allowed for that to happen.

I wouldnt count on it. When they had their 5 top picks in the five year period they selected to no brainers in crosby and malkin, and than staal, who has been alright, ryan whitney, nothing special, and fleury, who has been serviceable.

Kadri and Schenn were top 10 picks. And you're using Schenn as an example of good drafting at the 5th overall pick? I feel like that alone invalidates your opinion.

The Penguins haven't been great at drafting. But they also have been picking late every round as of late or just not had a lot of picks to work with. The prospect pool is pretty impressive all things considered.

Hockey worth? Let's see I've been alive for and witnessed each of my Teams 3 Stanley Cups. I've kissed the Stanley Cup, I've met Mario Lemieux and he signed my back of my jersey for me. What else could a hockey fan possibly want to accomplish?

So now you are using top 10 picks from a previous GM's tenure that ended 8 years ago to compare the Penguins drafting ability? Brilliant.

come on guys, no sense in having a battle of wits with an opponent who's clearly unarmed.

Well you can clearly see this group is not that great at it either. Substitute Crosby with Hopkins and Malkin with Yakapov, and the Pens are a bottom dwelling team. They got lucky being bad the two years they were.

Someone is gonna rag on Edm when they are a Pitt fan about drafting is clearly clueless when if they had a half of a cent thought, they could see the Pens have been pretty bad at it themselves.

Somewhere on HB I'm sure that there's a 55 year-old Blackhawks fan who's been alive for three cups (two more recent than Pittsburgh's last) and thus beats Kilian at his own game. Not sure where to find such a troll-buster though...
