That said, Kesler is looking pretty damn good out there (he's certainly raising his trade value even further, if that's the route the the team wants to go - I think the Canucks would get a substantial return for him, although personally I'd prefer if he stayed with Vancouver)
P.S. Quick looked very sharp last night (what a @#$#@ game!) |

It would be terrible for the Canucks to trade Kesler. But the return might be nice for a retool in vancouver. |

Brown has become more and more dirty. It might be because he misses his hits a bit more now than before. It is the all out going for a hit without concern for the other player I have a problem with. I love big hits but when someone burns you do not stick out your knee.
If you have ever had it happen to you, you would despise such a hit. Then just imagine someone with the size, speed and strength of Brown doing it.
Or if you prefer imagine that Backes made the same play against Kopitar or Carter. You would be a bit upset. Backes plays on the edge but you see him often pull up on plays where he could damage someone. |

Brown isn't really all that big or fast, he's just fearless. I think a lot of players shy away from contact to save themselves not the other guy. Brown just hits hard, 99% of his hits are perfectly clean though. I've seen some that I didn't like and some that I did like. The potential elbow against the Blues last year, I hated. The knee on knee the other day? I didn't like (but I didn't think it was intentional).
Most of the others are perfectly clean, and are hyped up from players and coaches complaining about him being physical. Now that players have complained about it, everything he does is under a microscope. Really it's a smart move by other teams, because they're trying to get him to stop. Not because it's dirty, but because it makes him so effective. If they can get him to stop hitting like that, it allows them to play their game better. Most of the time when he misses it's other players trying to move out of the way at the last second, and that's because they're paying attention to him more, and that's because he's a physical force on the ice. Which is what he wants.
The chatter about him being dirty is nonsense though, he's just physical. It's just statistics, the more you hit the more chances you're going to have a bad hit. That doesn't make him dirty though. |

I agree. If you put Oshie on a team like the Pens, he'd be a 50-goal scorer. |

For his comment about the hero's being our men and women in uniform? I agree it was a nice statement, but I don't see how that means anything against Brown. He used his day with the cup to raise money for wounded veterans, that was pretty classy as well.
If you mean learn some shootout moves, then yeah I agree. Oshie is a shootout wizard. The rest of his play was just alright though. |

That was not meant against Brown as a person. I love Dustin Brown. Just wish he wasn't tagged as a dirty player. that's all I meant. And Oshie is a beast!! |

Brown has played this style of physical hockey his entire career. No one started to whine and complain about it until he hoisted the Cup and everyone else in the NHL had to start thinking about how to counter the Kings' physical style of play. If the Kings were still a weak and ineffective team, then no one would care about Brown's style of play. Roszival is still alive (despite what Phoenix fans think), Hertl was stupid for thinking he could take out Brown (despite what San Jose fans think). Chicago, unfortunately for the Kings, understands how to match up and nullify Brown and Kings physical style, so that is something the Kings need to work on.
