I consider Montreal a rebuilding team, though Habs fans will deny it..If they had a Smart GM, (and they don't) they could use Detroit's injury situation (Zetterberg herniated disc) Datsyuk questionalbe , and try to Pry center Anthony Mantha away from Detroit..Ship a Lars Eller and first rounder Mike McCarron..Or if they want a veteran who could be a good fit with the Wings, add Brian Gionta for some veteran help.. I was surprised last June, and with FIVE picks in the second and third rounds in last year's draft, the Habs didnt try to move up enough spots when Mantha slipped down..Isnt Montreal the team that has been trying to add a Topline Center the last two decades?? Then again, you need a competant GM and scouting director.

Mantha?

You are not getting him for anyone short of Subban.
He is pretty much the untouchable prospect.

Ek. Whatever happened to the Oilers and Kings deal. One day it was almost a certainty, next we hear nothing further about it. I get that not every rumour you report is going to come to fruition but surely you get further updates from your sources when deals fall through?

but what if Buffalo offers Freakerenko... I mean he's untouchable, even unreachable is a term I've heard used for him.

Personally I hope Parenteau gets moved. I'm in 5 fantasy hockey leagues that I administer. I have Parenteau in 2 of them & Barrie in all of them. If Parenteau moves, that moves Barrie up from the #2 PP unit with Benoit to the #1 unit with Johnson hopefully & Parenteau gets better quality minutes else where, a double bonus that helps all 5 of my teams.

We only have 1 week left in our leagues regular season after the Olympics are over until we start our 6 week playoff run so, that would be a nice boost for the Bounty Hunters.

Unless Tinordi is coming back, there's nothing in Montreal that Colorado needs.

They can keep that overrated twatwaffle Briere too.

I jave a couple of friends in the Q that said Manta is ovre ratted and will never do what he does in junor in the NHL ... most scout had him as a lazy player that doesnt skate both ways on the ice. Time will tell but When MTL didnt draft him and Detroit did, even on TSN and RDS said that this was a High risk High reward pick.

Nothing to do with reasoning for trading him. Just mentioning the potential benefit to me personally if he's moved. The 5 fantasy leagues I run are all 20 team leagues & participation is 5K to 7.5K per team per league. 5K to participate but add drops & trades cost money as well. If Parenteau gets on track I might win enough money to buy a new Harley.

If it is a defenseman going back then it can only be one of 3 choices:

Gorges, Emelin, or Beaulieu.

Anyone else and it is bad value for the Avs.

Only thing is I cannot see Montreal dropping one of Gorges or Emelin for another forward at this time. It weakens their defence too much. Beaulieu is possible but Colorado would greatly prefer a NHL ready replacement for Parenteau.

Briere and a pick I can see. A similar deal to the Cammy/Bourque deal, get a younger more long term piece for a veteran. Hopefully it would work out better than Bourque though.
