and thats a shame.

Every player has a limit to their game. I don't think that Carter is capable of being more then he is as a player.

Of course not. Good ol' High and Wide created many an odd-man rush against the Flyers.

he is not an awful player by any means. however, i will still content that given his skill set, he is not as good as he should be. this by all means isnt a short list of players to suffer from the same thing, but it is how i feel. he doesnt strike me as one who creates much for himself, let alone for others. im also probably a little biased against him because of his attitude with the columbus situation as well.
- stayinthefnnet

Snipers gonna snipe. That's his job. His job is to be created for and convert. Not a bad role if you're suited for it. Flyers have too many guys determined to set others up, at this point.

He was childish about Columbus.

That's pretty obvious. Just out of curiosity, where do you think Carter's results fall short of his talent level?

he's softer than tissue on the puck and likes to shoot the puck into the goalie instead of the wide open net

I guess about 30 times a year the goalie jumps out of the way.

for his size he is incredibly soft. the defensive skills i know he has seemed to be displayed way too inconsistently. and for large stretches, unless he was being fed a puck, he disappeared. i love james neal, but thats what pretty much describes him as a player. i think carter is, well at least should be, a better player than neal, who is fairly one dimensional

It's alarming for some teams I'm sure. He also was suspended for 5 games not to long ago.

Well the Jeff Carter I watch play is not that player. He may not throw a lot of hits around, but he is no where near soft. He's a very strong player on the puck, and very strong down the wing with the puck. And his defensive game is solid. A player who is incredibly soft, is inconsistent defensively, and disappears for large stretches wouldn't have made Team Canada. So I guess we'll just agree to disagree.

If it wasn't for Neal's disgusting lack of discipline at times, I'd love to have him on my team. Really good player.

maybe he has grown from not having to be the guy in LA. i will try to catch him more out west and see, because like i said, this opinion is largely based on a sample size at least a couple years old by now.

and as for neal, yeah the discipline thing bothers me as well. i wont defend it. he is an incredible sniper, but he doesnt provide too much else.
