it would be foolish to think that he is playing well. but to think he sucks is still legitimately idiotic. |

God willing, that will happen.
Maata for Rosehill and a 5th, a la OKT for Leino. - jmatchett383
no no, you can have this years first for matt read. then maybe draft your own maatta and not pass on him this time. |

i will not deny that he had a nice, albeit pretty easy, game today. that being said, my opinion of him is based over a much larger sample size, and one hat trick against austria does not change that for me |

Just out of curiosity, but did you watch any of the LA Kings playoffs games last season? |

he is not an awful player by any means. however, i will still content that given his skill set, he is not as good as he should be. this by all means isnt a short list of players to suffer from the same thing, but it is how i feel. he doesnt strike me as one who creates much for himself, let alone for others. im also probably a little biased against him because of his attitude with the columbus situation as well. |

Kings don't win the cup without the guy. Its what they needed.
Also, and some Flyers fans will disagree, he is a very good 2 way player. His back checking skills are very good. I think he showed those skills a couple of times today.
His attitude towards fans, not going to argue there, Carter is not the warmest guy in the room. :-)

Creating plays is not his skill set. So if that's how he's being judged, he'll never satisfy. His game is skating hard up and down the Wing, and shooting the puck, and going to the net. As well as playing a solid game defensively. I won't get into the whole Columbus thing because I think that's way overblown.

i know he has the ability to be a very good two way player. i know it sounds ironic, but its because i think he is extremely talented that i even have this opinion on him, if that makes sense. |

he's softer than tissue on the puck and likes to shoot the puck into the goalie instead of the wide open net |

i agree that he has the ability to do all of that. like i said, this isnt me thinking he is worthless as a player by any means. hes always been a pretty good one. i just think he had the innate talent to consistently be much better |

i wont even get into the whole just shooting into the pads thing. the guys shot, and his willingness to use it, was never really my issue with him. |

Of course not. Good ol' High and Wide created many an odd-man rush against the Flyers. |
