Nash is more used for his defence in this tournament and that's why he's far a head of hall in that regard.

Kunitz hasn't done anything and may in fact be holding Crosby back. Kunitz can do it when your playing nhl teams but when you re playing all star teams he isn't going to look good IMO.

I agree about Kunitz 100%

Still not sold on Nash though, that Austrian rocked him once and Rick did nothing for the rest of the game.

Giroux>Kunitz and Nash IMO

I would have liked giroux as well. Nash probably got a lot of credit from last Olympic as well.

Yeah fifth best out of a bunch of all star goalies, (frank) does he ever suck.
- Yeti1181

First, that still supports the claim that they got some of the weaker goaltending in the tournament. And that they won despite their goaltending, not because of it.

Second, there were a lot of all star goalies that didn't get played too. He very well would have dropped down further if they had. Fact is, 5th out of 8 teams (or whatever it is) just isn't that good. Particularly when 3 or 4 teams are canon fodder without players that can compete at that level.

umm, yeah, Halak, who very nearly landed Slovakia a medal? Backstopped them to wins against Russia and Sweden. The robbery of a game against Sweden took them to the semis. He kept them in it against Canada too by outplaying Luongo. Yeah, Slovakia lost to Canada 3-2. Who do you think was the better goalie that day?

How the (frank) does that prove that they won because of their goaltending?

Yeah you know what those goalies didn't do though? Get them the saves and win games like bobby Lou did.

Funny, you guys point out a .927 sv%, and yet when I point out most countries had their top goalie get better than that, suddenly that doesn't show their goaltending won them games. A little bit hypocritical, don't you think?

News flash everyone...

Gold for Canada in men's hockey is only legit if all said teams' netminders' save percentages are all a perfect one hundred percent.

I have spoken.

Don't mind me... been working through every game and just pissed off I haven't seen any action yet.

Was hoping I could get day-drunk Sunday and watch the game but Nessa has a new TTC schedule which may prevent that.

I see.

Essentially I guess what youre saying is that the vezina trophy is a sham. No reason to vote. The goalie that wins the cup gets it. End of story. After all, that's the goalie that got his team the cup. Therefore, the best goalie. End of story. Logically, this means they should have given Duncan Keith the Norris, Kane the hart, toews the selke. Have I misses anything? They all must be the best at their respective positions. Because after all, they didn't win them the cup like these players did.

No not what I'm saying. So stop being a Richard. You keep saying canada won gold in spite of Lou. He didn't play bad at all and gave them saves when they need it. All their numbers were fairly close and in a tournament 5 games those numbers difference can be 1 or 2 goals so they aren't really that relevant in a short time frame.

Yes, I fully believe they won gold in spite of him. He got the easy games through the round robin, and was the weaker goalie in nearly every single game they played. Had he not had the strongest team in front of him, they never would have made it past Slovakia.

In fact, I'd argue he absolutely didn't make the stops when needed, like 25 seconds left in the gold medal game.

When you have easily the strongest team in front of you, and come very close to losing several games, winning several by one goal, in most part because the goalie on the other side was better, I don't see how you can argue anything other than they won despite him. I think the only game he played, less Norway and Germany, where he was the stronger goalie, was Russia.

The fact that they eventually won does not mean he was the best goalie by any stretch of the imagination, like you seemed to try to claim.

I pretty vividly recall the commentators talking about shaky he looked in the gold medal game.

I disagree I think he uses his body well for his defensive game. I believe he was on the number 1 pk last Olympics.

Personally I think they should be starting Corey Crawford. That guys goaltending for the hawks got them the wins to win a cup last year. No other goalie did.
