thats a great example burn

he was given a chance.. and he made the most of it.. and now boston has a cheap younf d-man who will likely be part of their core for years to come

- Dozzer

look at what he did in the playoffs last year, but he has no experience.

we have tho?

leivo has played.. holland has played.. d'amigo has played... broll has played... mckegg has played... abbot has played... devane has played.. smithson has played..

they rotate these guys so that they dont chew up their waiver free status.

but to say the leafs havent been using marlies is simply untrue.

- Dozzer

If Smithson plays a minute of playoff hockey the Leafs are dead in the water. The others, IMHO, just aren't ready yet. The question was "groomed and ready" and a handful of injury call-up games aren't meeting that requirement in my mind.

He's a good example of someone being called up on an emergency basis and actually playing well.

But this is a guy who was the one of the most sought after FA's after he left the CCHA.

look into burn's example of the bruin's d-man Torey Krug

22 years old.. tossed in there.. and took his chance and ran with it

and D is far harder than F

sometimes you need to take a chance.

you'll never win it all without a gamble here n there.

Did Austria just buy Canada's surplus jersey's from the last Olympics and replaced the logo with theirs?

Could imagine where Bos would be if they did that with Krug??
- burn

Krug impressed in the 12/13 playoffs. He started that year's playoffs in the Ahl. He wasn't gifted a spot on the B's playoff lineup. He played in the minors then was called up after a bunch of injuries.

Do the same with Leivo. I'm in.

True.....but he's a very talented player....not exactly a huge gamble.

Had Boston not needed to call him up....they most likely wouldnt have.

So Healey managed to being up Karlsson in a Canada vs Austria game.

We need to take a page out of Sweden's book and activate our defense more? Even though our goals have been scored by our defense... (frank)ing knucklehead.

No one said that.
He was an emergency call up.....they werent going to bring him up otherwise at that time.
And he had playoff experience in other leagues.
