No need to be sorry. Snow denied it and I believe Howson called it a "substantial offer" but denied it was the whole draft. I'll believe the people involved with the trade even though I hate Snow's guts. Just because someone writes it doesn't make it fact as we should all know. Even if it was I'd do that trade it's just as a hockey fan I believe very little I read online . Though I'm pretty high on Pulock. - Cptmjl
Friedman is a legit as a source as they come, he hardly if ever reports anything that is speculated, so chances are that the offer was either what was rumoured to be or very close to being exactly that. |

My gut feeling is that it wasnt a legit offer by Snow however he might have offered it half heartily knowing Jackets were not moving that pick for any package. More of a sitaution of even if the Islanders offered all their picks, the Jackets still wouldnt move it.
Story leaks out and now it has taken on a life of its own |

I think if Nail had of fallen to 2 THEN Snow was willing to make the trade. It was rummored that Edmonton wanted Murray and Yak would fall to 2.... by Edmonton taking Nail I don't think Snow made the offer for Murray. So while Friedman was right... Snow is also right b/c he never made the offer he was prepared to make for Nail.
That said it was a good miss.... kind of like Amack turning down 4 mill a year for 4 years. |

Agreed. NYI taking Fasth or Andersen makes a ton of sense. Sbisa has had a brutal run of in juires but should be a solid top 4 denfensive Dman. Another asset that NYI could really use. - striker777
Sbisa is a liability. Too many penalties, out of position. When he WAS on his game, he made some great hits and was a good physical d-man for his size, but in my opinion he is inconsistent.
There are quite a few prospects down in the AHL to offer up: Rackell, Smith-Pelly and Stortini. Etem isn't going anywhere, to much speed and energy. He plays well with the up tempo offense. Nor do I see Hiller going anywhere, he offers the mentor role and has down well in sharing the ice time with Fasth & Anderson (hopefully Gibson soon).
IMHO

Anyone who doesn't think a trade for a "rental" like Moulson, Vanek, etc. is "worth it". I think u are crazy... it will possibly be the difference in a Cup or not for many teams having a guy that can score like that on the team. When you are close to the top.. u make the move b/c u don't know when u will get that shot again or how long you will be one of the elite teams. It is "worth it" if it helps you win it all.. |

I think Murray was the safer prospect, you know you will at least get a solid Top 4 dman out of it. However Yak is a greater risk and reward, you can get a superstar or you can get Nikola Zherdev 2.0 |

Murray missed a season after under going shoulder surgery. He just turned 20 in September & is already averaging 20 mins a game for Columbus in all situations. He played in the World Championships as an 18 year old. That's some amazing accomplishments considering learning to play defense in the NHL is a long challenging process. The fact he's done it with little to no regression is astounding.
He should have been selected 1st overall. No slight to Yak's but players like Murray help teams win & come along less frequently. He was exactly what the Oilers needed. None of Schultz, Marincin or Klefbom will ever be Murray. At this rate of development Murray will be a #1 Dman in the NHL in 2 years. That will make him 22 & that's amazing. Think Ekman-Larsson good.
Now there is way more risk drafting Dman as some never make the transition to the NHL. Then there is the fact that most take years to develop. As I've stated repeatedly in or around 400 games for the vast majority. Example & I could list 100's ut lets use Hedman from TB. 258 games of NHL experience going into this season & right on the cusp of becoming a superstar. He will be next season just before he hits that mark. - striker777
Murray plays sheltered minutes in Columbus with a seasoned Vet for a partner. He gets the most offensive zone starts and 4th easiest opponents. On Edmonton you think he would get that? He would be getting lit up like a Christmas tree in Edmonton. |

And I suppose you watch all of his games he's way better then Tyutin and Johnson in his own end, and we're talking Wiznewsky as his partner, not some superstar vet such as Weber or Suter. |

I think it was the draft Snow realized he had to draft defensemen too? He then went on to picking all defensemen |

Yes we have done this dance.. to me that trade without a Goalie or D-man is the epitome of idiocy. We gained nothing we did not already have.. and gave up 2 picks too. |

Yes we have . I liked the trade but was expecting the addition of at the very least some more D. I guess I forgot who our GM was? |

Yes he would but that. Is more a team issue. Plus minus is a some what antiquated state but over the long haul provided design some perspective.
Karlsson & Buff have brutal +/- but no 1 cares as their abilities to create offense far out weigh their liabilities. Defensively.
That's how you develop Dman. You put them in positions to succeed & develop. Still 20 mins a game for a Dman as a rookie is impressive right out of the gate. |

hey bud..im not starting any bull sh!t this is what I have been personally told on here by oiler fans when I was saying I didnt think edmonton should have drafted him..murray, Reilly or any other d man from the top 8 of that year would have been better for your team..you already have stud forwards..but no D..suck it up buttercup..it was only a response to what you fans came back at me with |

Ill second that and most GM's id think do as well. If its a player they feel can give them a better chance at a cup they'll do what it takes to get said player whether they feel they can resign them or not. Under those circumstance resigning them would be more of an after thought. |

People still think that if Vanek is invisible he must not be healthy. What is it about this guy that makes people ignore the fact he just floats a lot of the time? |
