Brown is useless- that's why he is taking penalties, because he's slow. Okposo is better than him. He's a garbage picker like Moulson, which makes him useless on the huge sheet. That said, I still think Canada beats either of these teams.

I'd take Brown on the Islanders...I agree, he isn't good enough on the big isce surface...

Two things.

1. I was born in '93, and never really experienced the "older" days of hockey. Was hockey more of a beer league between the 60's - 90's?

2. Call me a Commie or whatever you want, Russia was cheated out of that win; Quick knocked that net off the rings most likely purposely.

I'd take him as a 3rd liner, or 2nd liner until we get better

I don't know- I think our forwards would be alright if our defense and goaltending weren't mediocre to crap, and our coaching wasn't an embarrassment. About the only forward I really thought was sh*t just got traded to Chicago. Brown is a decent mucker on the smaller rink, but he's not a top six forward on this team, in my opinion, especially once Nelson and Strome are completely polished. He may not even be a third liner a couple of years from now.

It was a tougher, slower league. These guys are better overall athletes, but only a few have the testicles it took to stand in front of the net back then- Martin would be an example of a guy who could have played in that era. Some of the smaller guys who are the superstars in this league would have gotten killed back then, though. As for the other part- in the NHL, that's not an issue, because they wouldn't have missed that whistle. These guys don't work together, which is why they screwed it up.

I wouldn't trade any forward off this team without seeing if a proper coach could get consistency out of them first.

Bridgeport won today - Strome, Lee and Donovan has 2 points each. Hopefully Donovan can transfer his success from AHL.

I thought his best games all season were the ones leading up to the break...which unfortunately were probably some of the team's worst games all season.

I can't stand cappy or his stupid system. However ...

I'm done with Bailey. I'd let him go right now and let another team work on the rehabilitation. We keep hearing about the talent in the system - well I'm willing to bet that at least one of them can score more than 5 goals in 55 games on the second line and the second power play unit. He's dead weight.

Bailey with Nielsen and whoever should be our third line, to play defense (maybe with Clutterbuck?- I get confused as to which side these guys play on- I could swear I've seen Bailey on either wing at one time or another). I like Okposo with them, because I think that scenario brings out the best in Bailey, but Okposo in his own right is too good to be playing on the third line. Our only hope in ever getting any value out of Bailey in a trade is to make him a defensive player- he simply isn't going to score, because he outsmarts himself every time he has the puck. Maybe he should be taking meds for ADD or something- something that will make him shoot the puck instead of making six moves and then passing it to the defenseman who's in the way instead of shooting it.

That said, I'm pretty sure someone told me that he was a kid who scored like 100 points one year in junior playing with Taylor Hall, which you and I could have done, too ("look for Taylor and pass the puck to him" equals one assist on the scoresheet)- you can't expect all of your draft picks to be good ones, and he looks like the dud in the bunch. However, you can teach pretty much anyone to play defense- I realize that would require an actual coach to be hired, but I can only deal with one f***ing problem at a time.

PS- Speaking of which, anyone watch Latvia bring it against Sweden yesterday? They have Sandis Ozolinsh, who's like 42 years old, one kid who is on the Sabres, and a bunch of minor league scrubs, with Teddy Nolan coaching them, and they went mano a mano with the team in yellow (yeah, it's gold, yeah, OK....LOL) until Edler potted one about halfway through the third to seal the deal. It's not the firing of Teddy Nolan that annoys me so much as the idea that he was replaced by one jacka$$ after another. A professional coach who knows his sh*t can make all the difference in the world. I wonder how many more years this team is going to have to underachieve before people start being fired.

Cappy doesn't even have the defensemen play defense!

I have to disagree with you about Bailey. The guy doesn't play hard. Even if someone taught him to play a defensive game he would still just float around. They took a shot with him, it didn't pan out, cut him loose.

Had the same thought about Ted Nolan and Latvia yesterday. You can see what a real coach can do. Regarding Bailey, just do not see the needed passion from him. Still like to see if a real coach can bring anything out of him.

You'd think that Stepan, Callahan, and MacDonagh single handily beat Russia yesterday the way some Ranger fans are acting.

With the right coach and with the talent Bailey has anything is possible. I'm not saying it will happen but there is a chance that a different coach could turn his game around.

I think it's unlikely. Since there is no accountability on the Isles it certainly won't happen here. Just let him go already. He's invisible. The only good thing I can say about him is as useless as he is, he doesn't hand the opposing team opportunities like AMac.
