And those 40 games were with two other organizations......why would we base our analysis on that?
- mykokes

Why the (frank) would be base our analysis on 2 games?

And what if Nonis trades Franson for a stay at home Dman. than what?

Exactly like I said, a 7th dman who would slot in the bottom pairing.

He wouldnt get the minutes or PP time he needs to be productive.

- jbold

I don't see teams giving those up at this point of the season, it is what teams going into the playoffs are looking for, best bet Is to sign a UFA, Take a good prospect and a pick if you can for Franson.

I disagree.

Some playoff teams need offense from the back end.

And could dangle a stay at home Dman. A fair swap.

Like Gleason for Liles.

2 games. Wow. This entire conversation is stopping because you're arguing about giving him a shot and than say 2 games. And if he doesnt show signs of great play, than send him back down...

You know how many guys in the NHL, wouldnt be in the NHL, if their team gave them only "2 games" to show them what they got?

Boychuk wouldnt be in the NHL right now if the Bruins thought like that.

Conversation=over

Actually regarding Boychuk.....
2008/12/07 Assigned to Providence (AHL).
2008/12/01 Recalled from Providence (AHL).
2008/09/27 Assigned to Providence (AHL).
2008/06/24 Acquired from the Colorado Avalanche.

Actually regarding Boychuk....

They did the exact opposite of what you want to do with Brennan. They gave him more than 2 games. Even tho he didnt show flashes of brilliance.

Because you'll see him in the Leafs system. And why is everything so static with you? He gets 2 games and they win them and he does alright, should he be removed from the lineup? Like seriously man, this isn't a video game where you set your lines for the next 82 gp. He might get sat out a game and go back in. Like come on man, stop talking to me like I'm an idiot.

[quote=jack_oat67]Lots of Kessel love in the replies... I'm not one that joins the group though.

Phil is good. Phil has an awesome shot. Phil is still one dimentional.

It's funny, one of the commentors mentioned that:
I, on the other hand, believe that Phil has 2 moves when he starts taking it up the wing. Either he pulls up along the boards just over the blue line and waits for the trailer to come down the middle to pass the puck off to or he takes a wrist shot from outside of the face-off circle. He doesn't have the guts to take it to the net and every defenseman knows it.

Meaning he is so awesome he can score this much with only 2 moves that everyone knows he is going to make

Then stop saying stupid things like "Lets give him 2 games to prove himself" after bringing up guys like Krug and Boychuk (Who played more than 2 games to prove themself)

You honestly cant see why Im laughing at you? Because youre going on how the leafs should give him a chance, but than say 2 games is all the time he gets to prove himself?

You know how little of a chance there is for a player to prove himself after 2 games?

The two games is a reward for his good play in the AHL. To get the permanent spot over a franson, he'd have to earn it. Is that so hard for you to understand.

7th spot, unless he outplays that other guy

remember, coaches look at guys in practice to figure out their lines, not just in game.

He doesn't need to get games right away to show what he's got.

"Hey kid. We're rewarding you by calling you up. You only get 2 games to prove you're an NHL dman though, so either put on a show, or pack your bags"

How can you sit there, and honestly think 2 games is enough for someone to prove themself?

Heck, Ranger got more than 2 games to prove himself!!

He's desperate for an argument, failing to even read what I'm suggesting. There's nothing wrong with sending guys up and down....teams are too cap screwed to make claims right now. And if they're really worried about losing Brennan on waivers, then obviously they keep him up longer.

You do realize you're proving my point by showing me these things. Thank you.

Proves that teams give players MORE THAN 2 GAMES TO PROVE THAT THEY BELONG IN THE NHL

- jbold

Then maybe we're arguing the same thing, because I believe guys can go up and down, and if a guy makes the most of his reward and earns a spot...then fan (frank)ing tastic.

Personally, I want to see him get rewarded for his play with the Marlies, he might be coming into his own, never know.

No I'm suggesting they reward him with 2 games and send franson to the press box. And if he earns a longer look, he earns it.

Uh no. Your idea of seeing if a guy is an NHL player is giving him 2 games.

My idea of seeing him a guy is an NHL player is actually giving him time to learn the systems, get adjusted and get used to the NHL. Like Jake Gardiner did.

Imagine if the Leafs only gave Gardiner 2 games to show what he's worth? Holy poop..

How is a guy supposed to earn a longer look, when he's coming into the NHL with a new team, new systems, new teammates, new everything.

It takes a lot more than 2 games to be able to get comfortable with all of that. Something you're clearly not seeing...
