Is Despres still highly touted? Is this an actual credible rumour and not just some "hey my website isn't doing so well let's do a french guy to the Habs rumour" rumour?

It might be an educated guess, but it's pretty legit.

Després is far from damaged goods. Big, mobile, two-way D. We don't have many of those in the prospect pool. I don't think his name is linked in trade rumors because he's a Franco, but rather because he doesn't have as much value to Pittsburgh as he used to since they are stacked on D prospects that are close to the NHL. They've got a premium, younger version of him in Maatta and will use Després as a trade chip.

François Gagnon has named Pittsburgh a few weeks ago as a possible new location for Markov at the trade deadline. He said it was pretty well known by the people around the NHL that PIT had a lot of interest in #79.

He also named WAS, because Ovechkin is a good friend of Markov. But it seems to be a more logical location if Markov hits UFA status.

With Green's injury, WSH makes a lot of sense...not sure Markov will be moved though. They should since they will probably get a king's ransom at the trade deadline but we will see.
