To me, the winter games have become more of a glorified x-games.....plus hockey.

there are a few cool events but the X gaming of the olympics does suck.

I don't know, but for what it's worth, the local media here doesn't focus on the Ontario athletes, they give broad coverage to all the athletes.

Yeah, lots of "judged" sports like slopestyle, halfpipe, acrobatic ski etc...

Not a fan of judged sports, btw. Precisely because of the judged part.
Tremendous athletes, no doubt. But the rules aren't clear, at least, not for me.

I don't like sports that are judged because of the risk of bias for favorite athletes, or that someone's "reputation" earns them points that their performance didn't warrant. Figure skating is a prime example...the "favorites" always finish near the top; even if a lesser known participant outperforms them, that lesser-known inevitably ends up on the outside looking in. It's a culture of you have to "pay your dues" or something gay like that.

Yeah, the leaving points off the board incase the favorite do something equal or better is the worst part.

The favorites have to falter if the lower ranked participant is to move up, no matter how good they are.

It makes you think that maybe the better way to judge these sports is to wait for the round to be over and then go through the replays and score them.

If it wasn't for the Evolution and addition of new competitons or sports then we woldn't have the winter olympics too begin with. Adding some competitions that were created in the x-games is the continuation of that growth. It's not like snowboard cross and such is only in the x-games, they have a winter season just like the other events.
