True, but my point is that I don't think the women would welcome that with open arms (maybe I am wrong). My guess is that most women are happy to play in the leagues they are in. yes there are some super talented girls and women that can play at a skill level equal or higher to most boys and men, but how many of them want to?
- vermie22

different discussion altogether... the desire to play is obviously paramount

i just made a general statement that one day I believe there will be a woman good enough, big enough, and strong enough to play in the NHL

and i got called an idiot for it.

If Germany starts another one of those soon we're off the hook!

It won't be a world war, though.

If they invade France, I'll send them an email thanking them.

I'm not going to war to save French arse.

Not gonna happen.

Nobody called you an idiot.

You are the only one throwing around derogatory names.

Anyone see any lines today for Canada or US? Did they change or stay the same?
- iTOLDu

Canada had the same line up in practice For the 3rd straight day. Not sure about the US

Women are genetically, on average, significantly smaller. There is hard data to back that up. They are also born, due to genetics, with something like (can't remember the actual number) 25% less muscle. That can be backed up too. Those two facts together make it highly unlikely you'll ever see a woman play in the NHL. Just like you'll likely never see a woman with the fastest 100m dash, the fastest 50m freestyle swim, or any athletic endeavour where muscle and size are an advantage. In other words, almost all of them.

There is hard data to back those things up. Every single statement I made.

- prock

so that means that there will never be a woman who transcends all this in the future?

thats all i was claiming.

The minimum salary in the NHL is $550,000.

There is no professional women's league at the moment.

So I'm guessing on an individual level, if a woman had the opportunity to play with the big boys, she would jump at it.

- Atomic Wedgie

Are the figures that depict women being paid less then men on average factoring things like this in?

Or is it compared against two individuals in the same job?

Any census enthusiasts in here? I'm just curious.

no because there is hard data to back that up

what you are saying is that women will NEVER play in the NHL because they are women

thats really not sitting well with me..

- Dozzer

He hasn't been saying that at all.

yes money is the big motivator. However, if such a league existed that was healthy, that most would choose to stick with a woman's league.

I don't care if at this time the economics of keeping such as league afloat are pretty much impossible.

Thats an equality issue between men and women.

Different than genetic make up.

They stayed the same.

I think the Canadian women's team really missed the boat by not taking Princess Phaneuf.

She has a bomb from the point. I'll only wish she hit the net more.

After reading a few pages, I made a good decision in not coming around much, it is mostly garbage talk in here nowadays. Maybe when things settle down around home, I will purge the Leaf threads of the crap, maybe, maybe not.

What crap? I think regardless of heated words its been a pretty damn good discussion. Purging the threads of passion will turn them into vanilla boredom.

It cleans up when the NHL is back on. Probably a little more during the Olympic break when Canada starts playing.

It's a leaf blog with no Leafs..

But LeafMan, you have to admit a few of these posts are golden.

You skipped mine about banning dozzer for the cheese

There will be no cheese talk in the main threads, that is what the misc lounge is for, thanks.
