Darcy supposedly did with Drury though & then Quinn wouldn't sign off on the deal
There's plenty to blame Darcy for...
I don't see Briere/Drury as one of them
Although he def could've handled it better

Quinn may have been the greatest scumbag to grace this fair city . And Buffalo has seen it's share of scumbags.

I wouldn't call Quinn a scumbag. More of a crackpot. He just had really off the wall ideas. Some of which stuck. Like the Winter Classic.

Reinhart with another multi-point effort. Two goals in a 3-1 win. In 44 games, he's got 29 goals, and 49 assists for 78 points. As long as the draft lottery doesn't (frank) us, this is gonna be fun

I'm completely baffled at how he's dropped in the rankings...
I could see Ekblad over him, but that's it
If we miss in Reinhart & want a forward, I'd even take Draisaitl over him... Not that Bennett is bad, I'm just not super impressed
And I feel that a guy like Draisaitl has an upside to be a dominating power forward... The guy can skate! I've read where that has been an issue... But I wildly disagree... I've seen him go coast to coast a few times... Granted, it's against other guys in "Juniors" but u can tell that for a big guy he has some wheels
There's actually been quite a few scouts that have said he's the best forward in the WHL (where Reinhart also plays)

In terms of UPSIDE...
I'd rank them
1)Ekblad
2)Draisaitl
3)Reinhart
4)everyone else

That said,
#1 pick... I still take Reinhart
He has the "intangibles" plus all the talent, hockey iq, pedigree, and work ethic that virtually guarantee he won't be a bust

He seems very much in the mold of a Drury, Bergeron, O'Reilly, etc
Not a dynamic "#1" necessarily,
But still a guy that will be very good and play an important role on our team

Winter Classic was not his idea . It was the NHL's . They came to him and asked if Buffalo could pull it off. No Quinn was a scumbag.

Jonathan Quick to start vs. Slovakia

http://espn.go.com/olympi...-states-men-hockey-opener

Miller .923 save % on the worst team in the league and Olympic hockey MVP of the Vancouver games.

Quick .911 save % on a Stanley Cup favorite.

Yet Quick gets the start? I know they are playing Slovakia but I hope USA hockey doesn't learn a hard lesson here starting Quick in place of Miller.

I would have went with Miller easily and let him get into a groove.

And for anyone that is of the opinion that Quick IS better than Miller I suggest you take this into consideration.

Although Quick is good, his stats are great because of the defense in front of him in L.A. . We saw that when their rookie Martin Jones in L.A. was putting up awesome numbers when quick was down. Id love to see Miller's numbers playing for a L.A.

I think it's a good choice. Miller will prolly get the the start on the next game.

I'm pretty sure playing hockey outside was not the NHL (or Quinn's) idea.

I agree with this also Cab if this is just to give a start to Quick and have Miller play against the tougher Russian team.

BHH, have you been waxing poetic in Terza Rima or Sestina formats lately. Pretty complicated stuff there.

Bylsma is over thinking himself yet again. Game one of the tournament you start your best goalie and go from there. Miller better start against Russia on Saturday, if he doesn't it proves that Bylsma is not the right coach for the job. Call me a homer if you want but Miller has the best numbers of the 3 goalies that are there. End mini rant

Bylsma is a guy that starts the same goalie year after year after year in the playoffs that consistently has a save % under .900 in the playoffs.
His track record is the worst when it comes to evaluating the 'right goalie' for the job.

Quick has shown to step up and win a tournament (Stanley cup) and has shown to be strong in the playoffs and shown it recently

It's a good choice

Miller is in a groove already . It's called a rut. Saw some clips of the practice and he was getting rattled on the shots he was missing.

Except this is an entirely different type of tournament. They have a goalie there that has experience in this type of tournament and performed at an extremely high level while there. Shouldn't that count for something?

Guess we will find out maybe Saturday if Miller has the same form as 4 years ago.
