Oh that's right however at the time Connolly was having a breakout season and was looking like the real deal until brain damaged mixed with white powder ruined him
- Stripes77

IMO running the streets and peeing on women instead of focusing on hockey ruined him

Max and Kotalik also got raises. Don't just blame tinman.
- dadeadhead

On top of that, Max and Kotalik were wingers. Connolly was not.

Petr Shaefer ruined him. He was turning into a superstar during those playoffs

the other problem with darcy

letting the top 2 centers walk and trust connolly , often injured, to be your second center moving forward with no back up plan

Ok... He was absolutely playing at an elite level when he got concussed. You can't deny that

That Hecht/Briere/Dumont line was really good. IMO Pominville coming in and doing what he did his rookie year made Dumont expendable. I'd of moved Kotalik and kept Dumont. I said it then but what do I know.

Not sticking up for Darcy but its easy to say that now, back then Kotalik looked like a stud in the making. Who knew he'd literally only score from one spot on the ice for the rest of his career

I still think he played his best hockey as a sabre centering max and kozlov

it's a shame that combo did not last long

That slapper on the pp that was rendered useless because everyone knew it was coming?

Plus I think they will attempt the Philly model of getting a goaltender which we all know doesn't work
- Stripes77

One way or another,
I think we'll acquire three really good forward prospects over the next two drafts
Hopefully that get us set up nicely there

Defense is already looking really good

Goalie is the biggest question mark IMO

Missing out on Bernier sucked,
ESP since Toronto got him for a bag of pucks

If we trade Miller to StL,
The asset I MOST want back is Allen
I think he'll have a chance to be a legit starter at some point for us

Ulmark will be ready in 2 years

get Greiss or Elliot to split time during the next year or so

keep drafting them every year (rds 5th and higher) and keep the pipeline full

JP and Kotalik both had good years. I wanted JP to stay too, I actually forgot he wasn't for 06-07.... That seems weird to me

I would have too, but, as you and I both said before, even if that happens, and everything else remained unchanged, this team is still in hole it is now. Kotalik over Dumont isn't what doomed this team.
