Not to get political....but it was mostly crazy far right wing media (Fox) that was going ape sh!t. But then again...when dont they.

Crazy rich white people in the states seem to forget the US was founded on immigration.

i dont think canada has ever won the overall medal count

like Bix said.. we won the most gold before, but never the most medals overall.

- Dozzer

Winning most gold Is more imoressive Than winning most medals... Except when the US shows the standings

NBC coverage in Vancouver had US on top of standings cause they had the most medals.

The return of the middle class (a true middle class) is the single biggest problem down there. They need it badly.

I consider myself by todays strandards well off, and im still carrying debt lol

nah, i dont share the non taxation views

i think there should be an across the board tax set at a percentage.. you make more, you pay more. plain and simple.

raise it to the point where the basic standard of living is covered by the people and then its up to you to improve upon it.

is it perfect? nope.. but its better than what we have now.

unions killed the middle class.

unions are only viable in cases where employees are in demand or the work cannot be moved elsewhere (like a teachers union)

but in manufacturing? how can you sit there and demand 30$ an hour when someone else is willing to do it for $12

this is why the manufacturing industry is collapsing in north america. if a union doesnt curb its demands to suit the market, then its simply cheaper for a business to close up shop and move elsewhere.

its not pretty, but its true.

Im not a union guy, but heres how u demand something better than $12

Higher productivity, and better quality.

American entrepreneurs need to keep there companies state side, and the government needs to lower the corporate tax to zero, the money needs to stay here.

Its also a moral issue you can make 250 million state side and help your country, or make 350 and have your headquarters in Ireland, and your product assembled in China.

There needs to be incentive to stay in NA. Corporate tax rate is a great place to start.

kellogs here in london.. ford in talbotville.

over and over and over.

companies work for their share holders and investors, if they do not provide adequate returns on their products the people who have stock in the company pull out and the company goes bankrupt.

what needs to be done.. is a cap on how much of the profit can go back to the share holder.. set for all stock everywhere.

anything over that cap goes back to the workers. the workers salary would be on a sliding scale from quarter to quarter. this also puts the onus on the employees to work efficiently and cost effectively.. which would be a deterrent for senior union workers who just float through their days.

this way the stake holders get their returns, and the employees can benefit from their hard work.. or suffer due to their own laziness.

it still boils down to investment.

there is simply no way you can maiintain the same profit margin with north american labour as you can with overseas labour.

and these companies are answerable to investors who pull out and invest elsewhere if its more lucrative.

its the basic structure of the north american economy.. its flawed.
