am I seeing this right? I turned on the olympics, and canada has someone in 4th place for cross country skiing? Canada has never been any good at that.

Those guys move as quick in some of the portions as the average person would on a downhill.

Either way its often not about the speed. Often its about stepping in a ditch. If your foot is in a ditch and the tips aren't, it can bend them to the point of snapping. They're sort of like hockey sticks in that regard. If you see some of those pics of guys shooting and their sticks bending, skis will bend like that, but will also snap if gone too far.

That said, I didn't see what broke his ski.

First time a head in the medal counts. We won most GOld last Olympics, but this is the first time we have had the most medals on the medal count board. Very cool.

But we are only 4 days in....and the first week is where Canada should rack up most of its medals. In Vancouver, it was the second week.
Its been exciting so far.
