hamilton is and will always be a 3rd pairing defenseman. Reminds me of certain big slow defenseman we have on our team.

Very debate able that Seguin is a number one centre. He wasn't in Boston, he's number in Dallas by default. Kinda like saying Bozak is a number one centre. Seguin was used alot of the time as a winger in Boston.

At the time I thought t was a bad deal. I knew the Leafs sucked something fierce but I didn't think the picks would end up what they were. I also didn't think Kessel would be this good. At this point Kessel is the best player. But i still think this is a deal that's another couple of years away from being fairly judged. How good will Kessel get? How good will Seguin get? How good will Hamilton get? ( the insinuation that he's a third pairing guy isn't worth addressing)

These are question to which we don't yet have answers

OK I buy that logic, but here's the flaw in this "judge the deal in the future".

So far, the Leafs are up what, 5 years? 4 years?

Every year that Kessel is worth it, that is a year the Leafs won the trade. The other side of the deal has to be better at some point, and then remain better for 4 or 5 years and counting.
