The two big guns in the trade have an equal shot.

Wouldn't Gauthier be that "Depth" starting next yr...

Guy like McKegg becomes add on/package trade bait..

- Fruitcakenipple

I'm not opposed to trading McKegg if he's a piece the other team insists on, but I think he's a useful guy to keep around. Tim Brent like.

Nope...... Kessel has another 7 years like he has had the past 3 years........ he'd be a lock in the Hall.

500 goal scorer's always make the Hall

You would trade Kessel for Seguin straight up?

Kessel is 26.

Seguin is 22.

I'm being serious.

So you can talk about whether or not Seguin is better or worse than Kessel, but when you add in Hamilton, there's no doubt we paid too much.

Doesn't mean I don't like Kessel.

And bottom line: I'll always take a #1 centre over a #1 winger.

I don't know. The easy thing to do is say always go for the center.....which Seguin is......the other thing is, just like Phil is better now than he was at 22, Seguin might have the same leap in his game. Tough call. I wouldn't undo the trade, but I'm not going to say we won it....nor am I going to say they won it.

Example....I thought for sure the NYI won the Pierre Turgeon for Pat Lafontaine trade. Lot of similarities between that one and the deal we did with Boston.

hamilton is and will always be a 3rd pairing defenseman. Reminds me of certain big slow defenseman we have on our team.

Very debate able that Seguin is a number one centre. He wasn't in Boston, he's number in Dallas by default. Kinda like saying Bozak is a number one centre. Seguin was used alot of the time as a winger in Boston.

That's why I'm 50/50. The deal it reminds me of is Turgeon for Lafontaine.....but then Lafontaine became a center when he got to Buffalo.

Fortunately we got a free wallet with Bozak.

Seguin is currently the 6th highest scoring centre in the league - at 22.

Any chance you've got a trouble seeing the truth through your blue and white tinted glasses?

Actually Pronger was already a beast at that age.. 180 PIM as a 22 year old. And had over 30 pts.

Seguin was the 2nd pick - any other team would have taken him after Tyler Hall was picked #1.

As for Hamilton, sure, could have been another pick.

Like I said, won't undo the trade, and don't know who won it. But I do like where Phil's game has gone. Can definitely call him an elite player now.

Phil was a young scoring star, 2 picks for the kid is a no brainer. Most picks do not fair as well.
